Renewing unto New Jerusalem (3)

We have a new birth of the Spirit and daily we are being renewed by the Spirit. This occurs in us personally but it is not only an individual matter but rather a corporate matter for building the Body of Christ which consummates n New Jerusalem.

New JerusalemGod said “Let us make man in our image…” (Gen. 1:26). This is a corporate man; God did not say “Let us make men (plural)”. But this man was trapped into sin and became the old man. Then Jesus Christ, through His death on the cross, created in Himself one new man (Eph. 2:15).

Colossians 3:9-10 tells us that we “have put off the old man with his practices and have put on the new man.” This is our change of position by being put into the death of Christ and entering into His resurrection (Rom. 6:3-5). But our condition remains mixed; we are part of the new man but we still have something of the old man in our soul and flesh.

We sometimes live as a member of the new man “in newness of life” but sometimes live as a member of the old man.

Colossians 3:10 goes on to say that the new man “is being renewed unto full knowledge according to the image of Him who created him.” This renewing is gradually changing our condition and our living. We are gradually becoming the reality of New Jerusalem.

Sehnsucht in the Blue Ridge Mountains — Nicole O'Meara

Sehnsucht is hard to put into words, as can be seen in my painfully limited ability to describe what I felt at a vista in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Some call it joy. Some called it wistful longing for something you can’t explain. It has been called melancholy and nostalgia. It is all of that, and mo
