Jesus Used the Rhema Word of God:

When Jesus was about to start His ministry, He was tempted in the desert by Satan, Jesus used evidence of the Scripture as a comeback. He quoted from Deuteronomy 8:3, “man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.” Jesus quotes that line from the Old Testament, as recorded in Matthew 4:4. Found in Deuteronomy plain and clear, our life is not about food and material stuff, but there is a more profound significance to our lives, our spiritual food and our spiritual walk must take priority, as Jesus preached and proclaimed when He was giving His comeback.

“Rhema” is the Greek Word used in Luke 4:4 and Matthew 4:4 when Jesus says, man will not live on bread alone, but on every Word that comes from God. Jesus is talking about the spoken Word of God, words that come from the mouth of God. In Deuteronomy, the Hebrew word davar/dabar is used, therefore, now rhema and dabar are linked together, creating the full intended meaning.

Thoughts:

Remember that you can use the Word of God to fight back the enemy, the attacks and the temptations in your life. God’s Word and Jesus need to be more significant than material things because you are a spiritual being who needs sustenance and growth for your spirituality.
