Sacrifice of Praise
Please note this blog article was written in November 2022 and revisited in 2025.
Some of us might be familiar with the song “I bring the sacrifice of praise”, I would challenge us to really think deep before singing these types of songs and really lean on the help of the Holy Spirit!
Recently, been learning what it means to give God my sacrifice of praise. This means when I do not want to, when every fiber of my being just wants to cry out to God and scream but God can you not see my current condition.
I know you’re a loving Father, so why do you leave me in this situation?
God comforts me with the knowledge that exactly He is a loving Father, and he would never leave nor forsake His children. Learning how to truly love God with that agape love requires sacrifice. It requires living beyond my feelings and current circumstance. It means when I cannot seem to think of anything to be grateful for, I submit to the word of God and allow the truth of His word to guide my actions and my praise. Understanding that my perception is most definitely skewed due to my circumstances but yet the word of God remains the same yesterday, today and forever.

He has never failed, and He won’t start now.
Giving our sacrifice of praise is actually mostly for our sake. There is something beautiful when we have to fully lean and depend on the help of the Holy Spirit. I am not leaning on my understanding but in ALL my ways I acknowledge Him and accept his strength in my areas of weakness. I lay down my burdens, complaints and issues at His feet. God is never tired or weary of us. He is never in a rush. He wants us to come into His presence as we are. To humbly come to his throne and understand that we have a high priest that is aware of our weaknesses. Jesus indeed understood what it meant to give a sacrifice of praise. So many times, he was about to perform a miracle in the midst of people that doubted him, ridiculed and shamed him, yet He would worship and reverence God first and foremost before calling on the mighty power of his Heavenly Father. He never for once doubted that His Father had his back and was the igi leyin ogba. (English translation: the stick/foundation behind the building).

Can I be honest? Like really honest? There are times when I really do not want to praise God. Like many of us I would rather come and present my nicely wrapped and packaged testimony when everything has fallen into place and God has made all things beautiful. But while still going through it to come out and talk about it even while fighting through doubt. Standing in the midst of people when I really just want to break down crying and saying to my father why are you putting me through this? Why does it feel like the enemies of my soul seem to be rejoicing over my situation. But the keyword here is feel. We MUST learn to live beyond our feelings. What I feel and perceive is completely different from what the truth of God’s word says. God’s Word is the standard. God’s Word is above all else. So I would rather be obedient to the yielding of God even when it doesn’t make sense to me. When I think what I am saying isn’t making any sense, surely who can possibly be blessed or encouraged by this but I must believe that God has a greater plan beyond me and my feelings or limited concept. All God requires is my obedience.
Let us forget about ourselves and let us worship the Lord. He really and truly is worthy of it all. This is how we give God the sacrifice of our praise.
We remember in this season also that God is sovereign. He does what He wants, with who He wants and when He wants to do it. Not too sure if you’re a avid follower of the blog but there are some common lessons we have been repeated in 2022:
- Obedience to God is paramount
2. We must learn to live beyond our feelings
3. God is sovereign above all else and God is good.
I cannot wait for the crowning of God’s plans to manifest not only in my life but in the life of those that are desperately holding unto God and trusting Him and pouring out their lives and giving their sacrifice of praise even in the midst of some of the darkest and turbulent times of life. Do not ever let anybody downplay your struggle. Just because someone does not relate to your current situation or struggle doesn’t mean it’s not valid or that theirs is so much more important than yours. We have a God that is available to each of us individually and to meet us at our individual point of need.
God will NEVER disappoint us, He will NEVER leave us and He will NEVER shame us.He is way too good and loving of a Father to do that to His children.
Wowwww! This is Mo in March 2025 coming back to speak and confirm God’s goodness and favor. Indeed, God manifested himself in my situation and turned my sorrows into joy. I cannot believe I wrote this out and typed this in 2022. When the light at the end of the tunnel seemed so very far away. Yet, God proved and continually proves Himself to be faithful. As the leper who came back to give God thanks, I am releasing this to encourage those that are trusting and hoping to God for a miracle and for a turnaround. You might not have the full details of my struggles but just know that I was going through it when I write this. I hope you can relate with this and that this gives you hope to keep holding on and trusting God.
I hope to always come back to this post with a heart of gratitude and as the seasons of life go on to be reminded that God can NEVER fail, and that God ALWAYS prevails.
