Seasons of Time - Jewell Utt

Time slips past. Months feel like weeks. Years like months. The good is, if time is a healer, bad simply has to wait a week or two. The bad is, great vacations and good times end too abruptly. So what’s the answer? Be content in season and out. When things are good be thankful, and when things are bad, actively wait for the “week” to pass.

    What is active waiting?

    1. To keep busy on things that require you to stretch your mind. Take a class, learn an instrument, help someone in a tangible way. The idea is to do a new thing.
    2. Engage with God on a higher plane. Use prayer to reset your thinking. Consider who God is and all that He has created. Really think through it. Then consider who you are, where you have come from, and what you have come through. Ask God to show you the way forward. When praying, name your family and friends individually. Each has a need and each need is important to God. Look at the state of our country and ask God for wisdom and protection for our leaders. Read a Psalm, sing a song, walk and pray.  As you honor God with your time, He will bring blessing and peace to your mind.
    3. Stay focused during prayer. I keep a journal and sticky notes close by. When my mind wanders to things I have to remember, I quickly note it. This becomes my to-do list and gets it temporarily off my mind. When I sense God is speaking to me, I write it down including areas of change, inspiring ideas, and meaningful passages to keep me on track.
    4. Study a book of the Bible. Read it through once. Then go back and write a sentence that summarizes the content of each section. A section could be a sentence, paragraph, or an entire chapter. You decide.  Read through the summary you have written and ask yourself two questions. What is the overall theme of this passage? How can I apply it to my life?

To everything there is a season and a time for every purpose under heaven:

A time to be born and a time to die.  A time to weep and a time to laugh. A time to mourn and a time to dance.  A time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing. A time to gain and a time to lose. A time to tear and a time to sew. A time to keep silence and a time to speak. A time to love and a time to hate. A time of war and a time of peace.

    Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 (NKJV)

This is Your time, that God has given to You. How will You make the most of it?

Community Blend has come a long way in 2021. With the undergirding of our powerful prayer team, we struggled through the nonprofit paperwork, anxiously awaited confirmation and acceptance to become a 501c3, enlisted a Board of Directors, volunteers, gained financial support, secured a location, purchased all equipment needed to open, and held our first event. A success!
