What a clear reminder of the foolishness of seeking and getting riches and success without God. Seek God first, not wealth and success.
Don’t be upset when someone becomes rich, when his wealth grows even greater; he cannot take it with him when he dies; his wealth will not go with him to the grave.
Even if he is satisfied with this life and is praised because he is successful, he will join all his ancestors in death, where the darkness lasts for ever. His greatness cannot save him from death; he will still die like the animals.
Today, You reminded me not to seek wealth and success for the sake of just getting rich and wealthy and successful.
Getting wealth and success apart from God
I’m so wary and careful about listening to teachings that encourage people to manifest and attract wealth, about getting into certain vibrations that connect you with the wealth of the universe.
Why?
Because this kind of knowledge all encourages getting wealth and riches apart from the real Source: God, and putting all the power on you.
So you get wealthy. Then what?
As today’s reading says, you still die. You cannot bring your wealth and riches with you.
Then what? What do you have? Nothing.
See what happens to those who trust in themselves, the fate of those who are satisfied with their wealth — they are doomed to die like sheep, and Death will be their shepherd. The righteous will triumph over them, as their bodies quickly decay in the world of the dead far from their homes. Psalms 49:13-14 GNBDK
You can’t pay your way to eternal life.
A person can never redeem himself; he cannot pay God the price for his life, because the payment for a human life is too great. What he could pay would never be enough to keep him from the grave, to let him live for ever. Psalms 49:7-9 GNBDK
Getting wealth and success from God
I am not against being rich, wealthy, and successful.
In fact, one of my top 3 life intentions is to be a Trillionaire.
But I never want to get it apart from God.
I dream of becoming a Trillionaire because it’s what God has promised me in His word:
So then, you must never think that you have made yourselves wealthy by your own power and strength. Remember that it is the LORD your God who gives you the power to become rich. He does this because he is still faithful today to the covenant that he made with your ancestors. Deuteronomy 8:17-18 GNBDK
God gives us the power to become rich.
It’s our destiny to not settle for just enough but to seek the abundance that God has promised.
How? Through obedience to God’s word.
Remember how the LORD your God led you on this long journey through the desert these past forty years, sending hardships to test you, so that he might know what you intended to do and whether you would obey his commands.
He made you go hungry, and then he gave you manna to eat, food that you and your ancestors had never eaten before. He did this to teach you that human beings must not depend on bread alone to sustain them, but on everything that the LORD says. Deuteronomy 8:2-3 GNBDK
The blessings of Obedience
“If you obey the LORD your God and faithfully keep all his commands that I am giving you today, he will make you greater than any other nation on earth.
Obey the LORD your God and all these blessings will be yours:
“The LORD will bless your towns and your fields. “The LORD will bless you with many children, with abundant crops, and with many cattle and sheep. “The LORD will bless your corn crops and the food you prepare from them.
“The LORD will bless everything you do. “The LORD will defeat your enemies when they attack you. They will attack from one direction, but they will run from you in all directions.
“The LORD your God will bless your work and fill your barns with corn. He will bless you in the land that he is giving you.
“If you obey the LORD your God and do everything he commands, he will make you his own people, as he has promised. Then all the peoples on earth will see that the LORD has chosen you to be his own people, and they will be afraid of you.
The LORD will give you many children, many cattle, and abundant crops in the land that he promised your ancestors to give you.
He will send rain in season from his rich storehouse in the sky and bless all your work, so that you will lend to many nations, but you will not have to borrow from any.
The LORD your God will make you the leader among the nations and not a follower; you will always prosper and never fail if you obey faithfully all his commands that I am giving you today.

The command of the Tithe
One of the commands in His word that I was struggling to obey at this time is tithing. Giving 10% of everything that I receive back to God.
But when I was still working in the hospital with meager earnings, I have been a faithful tither.
You reminded me about it and I realized that’s why even though my income has increased, my expenses have also increased so much that I still don’t have enough.
It’s because I have closed myself off from the “no-room-enough-to-receive-it-blessings” promised to those who give their tithe to You, Lord.
My Obedience
So I started to obey the Lord’s command to tithe again last Sunday.
And last night, I was budgeting for the week.
I found out I’m negative 2k plus.
On top of that, condo mortgage and electricity bills have come and they’ve amounted to around 56k.
Electricity bills are due March 10, in 2 weeks’ time.
I was so scared.
My mother suggested that we pawn our few remaining gold jewelries. But I think that it’s still being indebted and that’s one thing I don’t want.
I’m praying to be debt-free. I don’t want to add a debt to pay a debt.
God’s Promise
But I remembered that I have tithed and obeyed the Lord so I can claim his promise about the tithe:
Bring all the tithes (the tenth) into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this,” says the Lord of hosts, “if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you [so great] a blessing until there is no more room to receive it.
Then I will rebuke the devourer (insects, plague) for your sake and he will not destroy the fruits of the ground, nor will your vine in the field drop its grapes [before harvest],” says the Lord of hosts.
“All nations shall call you happy and blessed, for you shall be a land of delight,” says the Lord of hosts.

Then I asked the Lord if He wants me to do as my mother has suggested: pawning and borrowing.
I encircled Mar 10 on my calendar and decided to wait until March 9. If nothing happens, then pawning is an option.
And guess what? I got my answer today.
One of the verses above is His answer:
He will send rain in season from his rich storehouse in the sky and bless all your work, so that you will lend to many nations, but you will not have to borrow from any. Deuteronomy 28:12 GNBDK
Rain in season from His rich storehouse to bless all my work so that I will not have to borrow from any.
I believe God will pull through as He promised and show my family His power to bless when we obey.
Why I want to be wealthy
One of the reasons I want to be wealthy is so that He can display His power in and through me so that people will see how good the Lord is.
Then all the peoples on earth will see that the LORD has chosen you to be his own people, and they will be afraid of you. Deuteronomy 28:10 GNBDK
The second is I want to give as much as I can to the work of God in the world. 90% is what He implanted in my heart ever since I read about the life of RG Letourneau

So it’s not about not getting wealthy and successful.
It’s about setting our hearts not on wealth and success but on God.
But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also.

Get your wealth from God. Get rich with God. He is the God of Overflow.

Obey His word and live as He wants you to live.
And your riches will follow you even beyond the grave towards eternal life.
But God will rescue me; he will save me from the power of death. Psalms 49:15 GNBDK
He already did save you from death through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Shepherd of our souls.
- Seek God above all
- Don’t get wealth and riches apart from God
- Get wealthy and successful with God
Dear Lord,
You have given me the power to get wealth. Help me seek you above all and all these other things I need will be given me besides, wealth and success too. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
