Seven ‘Becomings’ on the Way to New Jerusalem
In eternity, before His creation of the heavens and the earth, God had an intention and a plan to accomplish it. Here are links to seven ‘becoming’ posts which present some of the steps toward God’s goal. This goal is to manifest Himself in New Jerusalem as a corporate regenerated, transformed, and glorified humanity*.
The Word became flesh: In the beginning, in eternity past, was the Word and the Word was God (John 1:1), and the Word became flesh and tabernacled among us (1:14). This is incarnation.
The Last Adam Became a Life-Giving Spirit: In resurrection the last Adam, Christ, became the life-giving Spirit (1 Cor. 15:45) to impart His life into us for the city of life, New Jerusalem.
Christ Became the Head of the Corner: Jesus Christ became the Cornerstone for God’s building (Matt. 21:42; Acts 4:11) both in the church today and in New Jerusalem eternally.
We Become Children of God: We were born of the Spirit in our spirit (John 3:6) to become children of God (1:12). Now we grow up into Him in all things for the building up of His Body.
Christ Becomes our Rich Supply: He became wisdom to us from God (1 Cor. 1:30) and we became partakers of the divine nature (2 Peter 1:4) and partners of Christ (Heb. 3:14).
Christ Becomes our Rich Supply (2): He accomplished much on the cross that “we might become the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Cor. 5:21). And the water He gives will become “a fountain of water gushing up into eternal life” (John 4:14). Into implies a goal, New Jerusalem.
The Kingdom’s Inward Reality Becomes Manifest: The preview was the Lord’s shining in glory on the mount of transfiguration. The full manifestation is declared in Revelation 11:15.
* Man is a being of three parts—spirit, soul, and body (1 Thes. 5:23). Regeneration is in our spirit, transformation is in our soul, and glorification comes through the redemption of our body.
