Silence does not equal abandonment

Good day beautiful people,

I hope today’s post meets you well? This specific write up has been inspired by the passage Matthew 15:23. Sometimes God can feel distant but as I always like to say our feelings do not always reflect reality. Our feelings can be very fickle. What we must do is stand upon the truth and we can find truth when we read the Bible.

So, what does God say…

Joshua 1:9 ~ “This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Hebrews 13:5 ~ “Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.”

Matthew 28:20~ “Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Seasons of quietness can actually be one of the best times in which we can grow in faith and develop our understanding of God. We shouldn’t despise such moments because during periods of humility we realise we can only lean on God, He is the source that provides us with all that we need… He blesses us with joy that knows no bounds, peace which surpasses all human understanding and unfailing love.

So, in Matthew 15:23 we are presented with a story of a woman who requested help from Jesus so that her daughter could be healed.

Matthew 15:22-28 ~ “A Gentile woman who lived there came to him, pleading, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! For my daughter is possessed by a demon that torments her severely.” But Jesus gave her no reply, not even a word. Then his disciples urged him to send her away. “Tell her to go away,” they said. “She is bothering us with all her begging.” Then Jesus said to the woman, “I was sent only to help God’s lost sheep—the people of Israel.” But she came and worshiped him, pleading again, “Lord, help me!” Jesus responded, “It isn’t right to take food from the children and throw it to the dogs.” She replied, “That’s true, Lord, but even dogs are allowed to eat the scraps that fall beneath their masters’ table.” “Dear woman,” Jesus said to her, “your faith is great. Your request is granted.” And her daughter was instantly healed.”

^^^At times God will not give us an immediate reply! This doesn’t mean He is not with us! Such instances challenge us to grow our faith! In times like this we ought to to call on His name even more! Never give up, hallelujah.

I’ve used this analogy before but I believe it’s appropriate to use it again. If a parent knows their toddler has the capability to walk they will encourage their child to take some steps. But for that to happen the parent will have to let go of their child’s hand at a specific point in time, this is not to harm their child but to help their infant grow so they can stand on their own two feet (this is not to say that eventually we’ll get to a point in our lives where we don’t need God, we’re to always depend on Him and acknowledge Him in all of our ways). There is more that can be done walking than crawling around in fear. Never allow fear, self-pity or discouragement or even discomfort cause you to give up. Keep trusting God. In the stillness know that God is there.

Luke 18:1 ~ “One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up.”

Also when we look at the life/book of Job it wasn’t until the 38th chapter that the Lord spoke to Job! But guess what Job was ALWAYS in God’s heart (Job 1:6-8), God was so pleased with Job and spoke highly of him. God even highlighted Job’s noble character to Satan. So this tells me that God never ever abandons His children, so stay blessed and encouraged.

I hope that you could take something away from today’s read. God bless you, thanks for reading and stay safe.

    The Mall or the Manger?

Much has changed since the God of the universe decorated the night sky with the star of Bethlehem and directed the choir of angels in a chorus announcing the birth of Our Savior, Jesus Christ. But the commercialism doesn’t have to rule in our hearts and homes. This year let’s focus on the Christ Child and remember the true meaning of the holiday season. As we turn our eyes to the Babe in the manger, we will not view Christmas as a dreaded obligation or a major retail event. It will be a time of joyous celebration, honoring the One Who came to give us eternal life and worshipping our Heavenly Father.
