Staring Fear in the Face

Bible

Corrie Ten Boom
Worry. It seeps into our minds and twists our very thought process into a jumbled knot that lands right in our stomach.

I can pretend like the rest of you–put on a confident face and go about my business.  I can even encourage you to “trust in the Lord”,  all the while saying, “God’s got this!” as I gear up to deal with whatever this rat race will bring…

…until the moment someone waves the green flag that signals life is about to take off with unexpected speed and sharp turns, and all I really want to do is hit the brakes.

But life won’t be put on hold will it?  We try to slam on the brakes sometimes, but we learn early in life that hiding under a blanket in the back seat really doesn’t make the reality of life go away, does it?

We must face it.

The struggles are real, some looming large.

But God is bigger.

AND

HOPE

IS

REAL.

His name is Jesus.  He conquered sin and death and hell.  He can conquer any mountain we are called to climb.  He doesn’t want to be our co-pilot, He wants to be in the driver seat.

And it’s a good reminder to wear a seat belt.

Because in this life there will be road blocks, obstacles and dangerous turns,

so strap yourself in with that BELT of TRUTH (Ephesians 6:14), and

HOLD.ON.

To my friends and family and those of you in my blogging family that are struggling:  I know that you’re hurting.  That you’re scared.  That you are worried.  That you’re tired. HOLD ON.

Psalm 63:8

He will go with you through the valley and He will walk beside you.  In some cases He will need to carry you, but HOLD ON.

HOLD ON TO HOPE.

The hope that He brings will sustain us and fill us with “peace that passes understanding”.  I can’t explain it, but I know it’s true.  When we place our trust in Him, He comes and fills us with hope and peace–and promise:
I’ve read the end of the story.  He reigns.  He wins.  And with Him on our side, we win too.

“Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you life as your victor’s crown.” Revelation 2:10
