The Death of Words
"It’s a beautiful thing, the destruction of words..." — George Orwell, 1984
The land of the free is under seige. Surrounding us is an army of lies and trickery that is corrupting our minds and starving our souls.
The Left seems to be attacking tradition (meaning, the way things have always been), on all sides. To sum it all up as neatly as I can, they attack identity by destroying community and individuality; they attack the soul by demonizing the church and the worship of God; they attack the mind by starving it of rich subjects, thoughts, and words. Notice, all of these traditions are divinely appointed and established by God Almighty.
All of these important social shifts have been written about extensively and I think we would all be served well by exploring each topic in depth. For todays purposes, I will focus exclusively on the war on words.
God is Logos. God established language.
If God made words and gave us the minds to comprehend them, doesn't it follow that there are things he wants us to know and say?
God gave us words so that we might know His Word. God gave us the minds to comprehend His Word so that we might know Truth and be able to navigate the lies and trickery of this wicked world.
And so, it is no coincidence that the Left is attacking, not only The Word, but language itself.
The Left says we cannot say "baby", we must say "fetus"; we cannot say "mother", we must say "birthing person" or "chest feeder"; "God" is out, and "the universe" is in; "straight" is also unacceptable, only "cisgender" is allowed; "truth" is meaningless now, unless it is proceeded by "your". These are just some examples of some words that have been slaughtered by the Left and replaced with lifeless bodies.
More than this, consider our literature, speeches, conversations, texts — all of it prove that we have lost the ability to use words that matter. And once we stop using meaningful words, we become incapable of sharing meaningful thought.
"Don’t you see that the whole aim of Newspeak is to narrow the range of thought? In the end we shall make thoughtcrime literally impossible, because there will be no words in which to express it. Every concept that can ever be needed will be expressed by exactly one word, with its meaning rigidly defined and all its subsidiary meanings rubbed out and forgotten…"
— George Orwell, 1984
We must become aware to this war and fight back by training ourselves to use words that matter. Refuse to use empty words, read great literature, grow your vocabulary, saturate yourself with deep ideas, and learn to express them. Most of all, know the living and active Word, which is sharper than a two edged sword.
By executing this battle plan, we can regain the ground we have lost and teach the next generation to use "good strong words that mean something." — Louisa May Alcott, Little Women
