The Golden Street is our One Way

Revelation 21:21b declares about New Jerusalem, “the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.”

New JerusalemThe street of the city is gold (v. 21b), signifying God’s nature. The street is a part of the city proper, and every part of the city proper is gold. The street being gold means that God’s nature is the way in the city and the way in the church life….Even the way we dress and what we buy should be according to God’s nature. As brothers in the Lord, we should buy our ties according to God’s nature and wear our shoes according to His nature. Some Christians who are concerned about being holy have regulations, but in the New Jerusalem there is only one regulation—the golden street.*

The golden street as the one way corresponds to the words of Jesus in John 14, “I am the way.” The New Testament does not have a regulations on how to dress, what to do, where to go or not go, and so many other aspects of daily life. We do not decide by outward regulations but by the living Christ within us as our way.

The Lord is with our spirit (2 Tim. 4:22) and our mind set on our spirit is life and peace (Rom. 8:6). Our mind away from our spirit brings uncertainty, anxiety, hesitation, etc. Jesus Christ is our way today, our way unto New Jerusalem, and our golden way in New Jerusalem.
