The Stone The Builders Rejected Is Now The Cornerstone

Were you ever with people that made you feel like you didn’t belong? Or maybe you gave your input on something and you were completely rejected? I’ve got to say that has happened to me occasionally through the years. It doesn’t make you feel very good about yourself, does it? Fortunately, Jesus was secure in who He was. He is the stone that the builders rejected yet now He is the chief cornerstone of our faith.

The stone that the builders rejected has now become the cornerstone.  Psalms 118:22

I’ve probably said this about other Psalms, but this is a wonderful Psalm. If you want to be lifted up, Psalm 118 is the one to read. The psalmist penned in verses 5 and 6 how the Lord is right there for us.

In my distress I prayed to the Lord, and the Lord answered me and set me free. The Lord is for me, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me? Psalm 118:5-6

Builders Rejected The Cornerstone

Even if our enemy surrounds us. If he blazes around us like a crackling fire, his efforts are destroyed by the authority of the Lord. When the enemy tries to ruin us, the Lord is there to rescue us. Why? Because the stone that the builders rejected has now become the cornerstone.

The Lord is my strength and my song; he has given me victory. Songs of joy and victory are sung in the camp of the godly. The strong right arm of the Lord has done glorious things! Psalm 118:14-15

Get Excited

There is a sure excitement with the writer in this Psalm. I hope you can sense it. No matter what is happening in or around you, listen to the confidence portrayed by the Psalmist. We have the same accessibly as he did to the presence of God.

Open for me the gates where the righteous enter, and I will go in and thank the Lord. These gates lead to the presence of the Lord, and the godly enter there. I thank you for answering my prayer and giving me victory!  Psalm 118:19-21

The Stone that the Builders Rejected is the Cornerstone of Your Life

It almost sounds like a pep talk, but it’s much more than that. We have the assurance that God is in our corner and He cares for us. Others may put us down but God is there to lift us. When we realize that this is the day that the Lord has made, we can’t have a bad day.

This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it. Please, Lord, please save us. Please, Lord, please give us success. Bless the one who comes in the name of the Lord. We bless you from the house of the Lord. Psalm 118:24-26

God will save us from our enemy. He’ll save us from our circumstances. And He’ll save us for all eternity. Are you ready to praise Him? Join with the Psalmist as he ended with these words.

You are my God, and I will praise you! You are my God, and I will exalt you! Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever. Psalm 118:28-29

Lord, thank you that you are there every moment of every day. I need you constantly. You are the cornerstone of my faith. With you, I cannot fail.
