The Tree of Life in New Jerusalem

Jesus said, “I am the life.” In John 6 this life is presented as the bread of life. “He who eats this bread shall live forever” (John 6:58).In Revelation 22 this life is shown as the tree of life.

New JerusalemSince the tree of life grows on the two sides of the river of life, it does not grow upward but spreads like a vine. For this reason, it is available along the flow of the water of life. Christ, as the tree of life, is the life supply available along the flow of the Spirit as the water of life. Where the Spirit flows, there the life supply of Christ is found. This is all in and with the divine nature as our holy way, as signified by the golden street.*

Christ as our life supply is not a physical food but spiritual food. In John 6:51-56 He spoke about eating His flesh. This is not to eat physically but to receive in faith what He accomplished by the crucifixion of His physical body.

In John 6:63 He declares that the Spirit is the One who gives life and that the physical flesh of His body is useless. This Spirit is “the Spirit of life” (Rom. 8:2) today and will be flowing continually into eternity as portrayed y the river of life in New Jerusalem. This flowing Spirit brings Christ to us as our life supply forever.
