THE WINNING COUNSEL
| Memorise: “There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand” (Prov 19:21)
Read: Proverbs 8:10-16 |
“Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety” (Proverbs 11:14).Counselling is very necessary for those who want to succeed in any area of life. If you are in difficulty over a particular aspect of life, and you fail to seek godly counsel related to it, you may not avert failure. God has endowed people with wisdom in different areas, some of which have been documented in books, tapes, CDs, etc. It is wisdom to tap from the wealth of experience of such leaders and spiritual parents. Some believers who think they can do without relevant counselling end up in problems. A particular minister and his partner went for marriage counselling during courtship. For some reasons, they missed out of some lessons, yet went ahead to wed. Years later, even though they began to oversee a local church, they repeatedly had crises at home in the areas they received no counselling. At some point, it was so severe that it took God’s intervention not to end that marriage. Are you about to enter into marriage? Go through all the marriage counselling lessons. They are for your good. The Lord Jesus Christ is the Counsellor. In verse 14 of today’s reading, He says counsel is His personal property. He counsels like no one else does. He has all knowledge and wisdom. A counsellor without these will mislead those he is counselling. There are major differences between God’s counsel and man’s. Psalm 33:11 says His counsel stands the test of time and eternity. That means, if you accept His advice in any given situation, success is sure whether there is a change of your nation’s government, downturn in the economy or not. His advice is beyond earthly events. Most advice of men are very limited – subject to earthly trends. If you want an unstoppable, unbeatable counsel, go to the Counsellor. Similarly, Proverbs 21:30 says no human advice can withstand God’s. When you make Him your counsellor, you will never become a victim of anybody’s advice. In addition, Proverbs 19:21 says God’s counsel always stands. It is sure to win. If you want your counsel to remain relevant, take it from the Counsellor. When you make Him your Counsellor, your plans will be established. He will also frustrate every negative counsel against you (Ps 33:10). From today, consult the Counsellor in all aspects of life. Consult Him before taking any decision. He is the real expert. He has winning counsels just for you. |
