The Word Became Flesh for Redemption unto Life for New Jerusalem

The Gospel of John begins by presenting the incarnation to us. Incarnation is God putting on humanity. The first verse says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” Verse 4 adds, “In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.”

John 1:14 continues, “And the Word became flesh and tabernacled among us.” The Word, God, becoming flesh, man, is incarnation. This is the first great becoming in the New Testament. The Word became flesh. God became a God-man having His divinity within a sinless humanity “in the New Jerusalemlikeness of the flesh of sin.”

This God-man lived and grew for thirty years, then came forth, was baptized by John, and began His ministry. In His ministry He emphasized the kingdom of God, which ultimately is New Jerusalem. At the end of His earthly ministry He went to the cross to die. The list below shows many victories He gained by His death.

The redemption accomplished by His death opened the door for us to receive Jesus Christ as our life. Multiple verses about redemption for life are here. We surely need the cleansing and forgiveness in redemption to become part of New Jerusalem and we also need to receive eternal life and let it grow in us.

New Jerusalem is a city of life. The Word became flesh to redeem us for this and to became our life for this.

Victories accomplished by the Lord on the cross:

Satan destroyed. Heb. 2:14 “Since therefore the children have shared in blood and flesh, He also Himself in like manner partook of the same, that through death He might destroy him who has the might of death, that is, the devil.”

Judgment of the world and its ruler. John 12:31 “Now is the judgment of this world; now shall the ruler of this world be cast out.”

The old man crucified. Rom. 6:6 “Knowing this, that our old man has been crucified with Him in order that the body of sin might be annulled…”

Sin taken away. 2 Cor. 5:21 “Him who did not know sin He made sin on our behalf that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

Sins cleansed. 1 Peter 2:24 “Who Himself bore up our sins in His body on the tree, in order that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness; by whose bruise you were healed.”

An Inspired Challenge for Wives This Father's Day - Today Can Be Different

Consider asking your husband how you can pray for him each day. (If the father of your children doesn’t live with you, for whatever reason, remember to put him on your prayer list too.) Your husband wants nothing more than to succeed, but he probably struggles with issues he’s afraid to admit, even to himself. He may feel insecure about being a dad, especially if he didn’t have the benefit of a good role model. Or maybe he feels more like an understudy because he’s “only” a stepdad.
