There’s ‘probably’ not a poisonous snake in this box

Spiritual war is real and it manifests as either good or evil fruit in today’s society. The war front is invisible, and it’s not against people but “against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:12).

Lately we see more societal interest toward the occult, people are particularly fascinated with ‘beings’ from the other side. I believe this is a direct deception from the fallen angels and demons who influence our thinking into areas the Bible expressly forbids. There are no ‘helpful’ ghosts wandering about trying to bring “messages” to the living. And there are no UFOs, or aliens. “UFOs” and “Aliens” are just fallen (demonic) angels deceiving the unwary.

Spiritual War

It’s war out there, wherever Jesus has sent the Holy Spirit to do a great work, the invisible world has countered strongly (more strongly than we like to admit)

Some years ago an Atheist campaign was all the rage in Europe, especially the UK. Their billboards and buses had signs like this:

If I held out a box to you and said “There’s probably not a poisonous snake in there” would you stick your hand in? Of course not. Likewise should you risk your eternity on the insubstantial word “probably”? Of course not.

The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” (Psalm 14:1b)

There is a God and it is Good News that He loves us, all of us, sinners from birth who are at enmity with Him. He loves us anyway, and chooses people to be saved from His wrath, as it proclaims in Ephesians 1:3-14.

The atheists, unsaved sinners, pagans, Gentiles, heathens- whatever you want to call people who are alive but dead in their sins, can’t know for sure about God. They have a conscience, and understand right from wrong, somehow. (They have eternity in their hearts, Ecclesiastes 3:11). They suspect there is a God, having seen what He has created and intuitively understand that a Being had to have made it. (Romans 1:18-20). It is only the Gospel that pierces their heart and sets their eyes away from darkness to the light.

When the Gospel comes, what a relief to know for sure that there IS a God, no probably about it! In these days of spiritual war and the war against my own flesh, it helps to just read scripture, over and over! Bask in it, revel in it, cling to it!

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In love He predestined us to adoption as sons and daughters through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, with which He favored us in the Beloved. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our wrongdoings, according to the riches of His grace which He lavished on us. In all wisdom and insight He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He set forth in Him, regarding His plan of the fullness of the times, to bring all things together in Christ, things in the heavens and things on the earth. In Him we also have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things in accordance with the plan of His will, to the end that we who were the first to hope in the Christ would be to the praise of His glory. In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of the promise, who is a first installment of our inheritance, in regard to the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of His glory. (Ephesians 1:3-14)
