Transformed by the Renewing Spirit for New Jerusalem

    New JerusalemGod desire is to be expressed through a corporate man. He fulfills this desire in multiple steps. First He created man in His image. Then man fell into sin and death but He came in the man Jesus to redeem fallen man. Third, as many men as will accept His redemption receive His life and are born again, born in their human spirit of the divine Spirit (John 3:6b).

    After our new birth, God’s plan is to work Himself into us more to conform us in reality to His image. Our new birth is in our spirit; our conformation is in our soul. As we turn to the Lord and are willing to cooperate with Him, we “are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord Spirit” (2 Cor. 3:18).

    This transformation is accomplished by the operation of the Spirit mingled with our spirit spreading to renew us, to make our soul new for God’s expression in New Jerusalem. This is:
    • to “be transformed by the renewing of the mind” in Romans 12:2;
    • to “be renewed in the spirit of your mind” in Ephesians 4:23;
    • “the renewing of the Holy Spirit” in Titus 3:5.

    It is only this operation by the Spirit in us that can bring us to the newness of New Jerusalem. This transforming in 2 Corinthians 3:18 depends on turning our heart to the Lord (v. 16). Let us turn from other concerns to Him day by day!
