Vote – kenbarnes.us

Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it. (James 4:17 NLT)

Statistics reveal that forty-one percent of evangelical Christians do not vote. If this is not a sin, it may be close to it.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer, the German Pastor and theologian, tried to get the pastors in that country to resist Hitler’s political rise. Most pastors said they preached the Gospel and did not want to participate in politics. They thought if they remained quiet in their churches, Hitler would allow them to continue to preach the Gospel, and Hitler would soon be gone. The result was the rise of evil that eventually led to the Holocaust. As many have said, all it takes for evil to rise is for good people to do nothing.

For Christians, it is not about whether you like the demeanor of Trump or Harris; it’s about the policies each promotes and how they stack up against a Christian worldview. It’s about abortion, transgerderism, and the freedom of religion.  Harris actually had a campaign event at an abortion clinic. Woe to any society that starts to call good, bad, and bad good. At a Harris campaign event, someone yelled out Jesus is Lord; Harris responded, “I think you at the wrong event.” You make up your mind as a Christian about how you should vote. Some of you reading this think I should not be so biased. My response is that if sin is obvious, you can’t be unbiased. The German church decided to remain silent and lived to regret it.

The excuse is that there is only one vote, and it will not make a difference. Forty-one percent of evangelicals, a significant voting bloc, may be embracing that excuse. It has been said that we get the government we deserve. If you don’t vote, you may get the government you deserve.

Vote your conscience for whoever that might be, but vote.
