Want to Know God? ~ Christine Malkemes

Stand at the crossroads and look, ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest.

Jeremiah 6:16

We’re not the first generation seeking to know God, but maybe we think our modern world view and technological advances will bring us closer to knowing God than others in the past.

We are more than wrong.

They hinder us from the simple yielding to the authority of Holy Scripture. When we go behind closed doors the reverence and awe are foreign. Our bodies are there but our minds are elsewhere.

We need to step on ancient path of waiting before the Lord.

We don’t know what we don’t know.

He is here – as close as the air you breathe and near as the beating of your heart.

Physically, we’re here but our the soul is untouched and mind unchanged.

Like those who’ve gone before us, we need to enter the Secret Place with one objective and one only. We come to know and fellowship with the Lord.

Trouble troubles the soul. Facebook, Twitter, and instagram call our name. We’re afraid we’ll miss that email, phone call, or text. We are diligent what’s on Hulu and Netflix.

All we know about God comes from the songs on our radio.

Enough is enough.

The moment we put God back where He belongs then we will instinctively move in the right direction – drawing near to the God.

The Secret in the Secret Place

In the holy hush of the Secret Place, God Himself will restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. The Secret Place is not the war room, it is the fellowship hall and the Holy Spirit will usher you into His presence.

“Prayer is beyond question the highest activity of the human soul. Man is at his greatest and highest when upon his knees he comes face to face with God.”

Martyn Loyd-Jones

Let us not lose our reverence and worship nor the awareness of the Divine. At all cost let us gain the knowledge of His presence in a way that no matter where we are can retreat within our hearts and meet God.

Not for the faint of heart

We know God by experience, time, faith and Holy Spirit instruction. The secret of the Secret Place is the Lord. An open Bible and a burning heart is all you need to find the windows of heaven open and the Lord speaking to your soul. He leads us in the journey to know Him.

We know God intimately because He makes Himself known. Sound judgment and clear discernment are not innate to our fallen nature. Knowledge of the Holy is a gift. It’s a gift given little by little and just enough to equip for the day.

We do not study the Word to gain head knowledge, we engage in Holy Scripture to encounter the Author. Our prayers are not a wish list but a conversation with our God.

The Ancient Path

The ancient path always leads to the heart of God. We bow in humble adoration and awe. Such knowledge of God is infused on our soul and inscribed on our minds. The Spirit of truth teaches us and instructs us in good and perfect way.

Salvation redeems us from self-destruction. Reconciliation freely ushers us into the presence of God.  The estranged will never know God. The long-distant will keep Him remote. The intimate will gains the deeper things of God.

For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, “Do not fear, I will help you.”

Isaiah 41:3

Ignorance of God – unknowing His ways and how He communicates, is the root of doubt, confusion, and unfaithfulness.

The Christian Mind

The Christian mind conformed to the world view is street smart but it knows nothing of the deep things of God. The Christian mind must be conformed to the Holy One, ready, willing, and able to receive His whispered words.

Listen to prophet Jeremiah and make the knowledge of God your greatest desire. Take the first step on the ancient path. Trust me, the One you want to know also wants you to know Him.

Are you ready?

Stand at the crossroads and look, ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest.
