What are the actions contrary to God's will

God's will is what He wants for us. It is a plan for love, joy, and peace. God blesses and looks out for us when we do what God wants.

However, some things go against what God wants. These things hurt us, others, and our bond with God.

In this article, we will talk about some things that go against what God wants. We will also discuss what will happen if we do these things and how to avoid them.

Actions contrary to God's Will

Actions that go against God's character and rules do not align with what He wants.

They only care about themselves and hurt other people. Some of the things that go against God's will are:

Sin

God is a just and good God who loves people. Sin, on the other hand, is self-centered, harmful, and damaging.

When we sin, we tell God we know more than he does. We put our wants and needs ahead of God's.

We are also choosing to stop being loved and protected by God. Sin can come in many different ways, such as:

  • Lying, cheating, and stealing
  • Hatred, anger, and bitterness
  • Sexual immorality and impurity
  • Greed, envy, and selfishness
  • Pride and arrogance
  • Idolatry and false worship

Sin can cause terrible things to happen. This can hurt our connections with God, other people, and ourselves.

It can also cause problems with your body, mind, and spirit.

Unforgiveness

God has forgiven us for our sins, even though we did not deserve it. We say we are better than God when we do not forgive others.

We are saying that we do not deserve forgiveness and that others do not.

Unforgiveness also hurts our hearts and souls. This can cause anger, hatred, and resentment.

It can also make it challenging to have good relationships with other people.

The Bible teaches us to forgive others, even if they do not deserve it.

To live a life that pleases God, we must forgive others. This is not easy, but it is necessary. When we forgive others, we follow God's example and let Him love and forgive us.

Lust

Lust is a strong or uncontrollable desire for something, usually something sexual.

It is often marked by ego, making the person the object of one's desire, and a lack of respect for the person.

God wants us to love other people as much as He loves us. This means you love them no matter what, without any requests or expectations.

It also means appreciating their bodies and where they do not want to be touched.

On the other hand, lust is built on being selfish and seeing yourself as an object.

Moreover, it sees the person you want as a means to an end instead of a person with feelings and needs of their own.

Lust can also lead to bad things like sexual abuse, pornography, and cheating on a partner. These actions can hurt our relationships, self-esteem, and spiritual lives.

Greed

Greed is having too much of a desire for things. This is a selfish and harmful feeling that can cause many problems for the person feeling it and for society as a whole.

It goes against what God wants because it has built on a wrong idea of what is important in life.

God wants us to think about Him and love other people, not about getting more and more stuff.

Also, He wants us to be happy and give to other people. He wants us to be happy with what we have and share our good fortune with others.

Pride

Pride is a feeling of superiority and self-importance. It is having a higher opinion of oneself than one has of others.

When arrogant, we think we are better than God and everyone else. We think we are better than everyone else and do not need help from God.

God does not want us to be proud because He wants us to be humble. He made the world and everything in it but is humble.

He does not think he is better than other people. He is ready to help us and put himself down for us.

The Bible tells us that being proud can hurt us. Proverbs 16:18 says, "Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall." Thus, our pride will bring us down in the end.

If we wanted to live in a way that makes God happy, we must be humble. We must admit that we are weak and need God's help.

We must also be willing to help others and put their wants ahead of ours.

False Worship

God is the only one who is real. He made the whole world and all the things in it. He is also the only person who deserves our worship.

It can mean worshiping statues, fake gods, or even ourselves. When we worship something besides God, we convey that we think that thing is more important or influential than God.

We are also choosing to believe something that is not real or reliable.

How to avoid actions contrary to God's will

God has a purpose for each of us. It is a plan for happiness, serenity, and love.

God's favor and benefits are ours to enjoy when we do what He wants.

However, some deeds go against what God wants. Neither we nor God benefit from these kinds of behaviors.

Some things to keep in mind to keep you from doing things that are against God's will:

  • Find out what God wants for your life. The best way to ensure you do not do something against God's will is to know what that will is. It is only possible if you read the Bible, pray, and spend time with other Christians.
  • Be aware of the bad things you tend to do. We all have bad habits that can make us do things that go against what God wants. Know your flaws and be ready to ask God for help to get over them.
  • Admit and turn away from your mistakes. Do not try to hide it from God when you sin. Tell Him what you have done wrong and ask Him to forgive you. He is trustworthy to forgive and clean us of sin (1 John 1:9).
  • Ask the Holy Spirit for help. The Holy Spirit helps us and shows us the way. He can help us avoid temptation and do what God wants.
  • Put yourself in the company of good people. People we hang out with a lot can significantly affect how we act. Get close to people who are committed to doing what God wants.
  • Do the right thing. Ask yourself, "What would God want me to do?" when you have to choose. Make decisions that align with God's wants, even if not easy.
