Why is getting up early good
Do you struggle with getting up early? Well, Most people do.
When you become an adult, it becomes harder to get up early since you are doing many things.
We can have so many excuses for not getting up early. However, the more reasons we have, the more impossible it is to develop the habit.
Imagine what you can do when you wake up at 5 a.m. compared to waking up at 7 a.m. onwards.
Thus, time could be your best friend when you know how to manage it wisely. On the other hand, you may need more time to handle them.
Why is rising and getting up early good
Waking up and getting out of bed before the sun has a lot of benefits. This takes self-discipline to get up early, but when it becomes a part of our routine, it will be worth it.
Here are some reasons why getting up early is good.
Intimate moment with God
The first and foremost reason why getting up early is good is because you can enjoy an intimate moment with the Lord.
Jesus Christ wakes up early to communicate with our Heavenly Father. He never had a wasted day because He started committing His first hours to our Lord Almighty.
It is the best time to regain strength and hope.
He rose early before dawn, left, and went to a deserted place where he prayed. (Mark 1:35)
Besides, the morning is the best time to know and express your desires, for you do not have any distractions.
Although God could listen to our prayers any time of the day, He also enjoys a time when our only focus is Him alone, which is best done in the morning.
Psalms 5:3 says, “In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning, I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.”
Thus, just like in marriage, couples should spend quality time together, and we also need this to deepen our relationship with the Lord.
The best time to do that is in the morning when your mind is fresh, and you first thank our Heavenly Father.
More time for yourself
Most of us do not have time for ourselves since we have a lot of things to accomplish in a day.
For mothers, enjoying “me time” is impossible when our kids are awake. The same is true for fathers.
Now that we have a lot of things to accomplish at home and even at work, the last thing we want to do is sleep.
Nevertheless, when we wake up before the sun, and before our children, we can at least enjoy sipping a cup of coffee while reading a book to improve ourselves.
Also, we can exercise for at least 20 to 30 minutes to improve our health.
Can accomplish more work effectively
Those who wake up late could also have fewer accomplishments than those who wake up early. Imagine waking up around 9 a.m. and eating brunch before doing anything.
Then, the next thing you know, it is already 1 p.m., and you do not have time to finish everything you have.
If we woke up late, we tend to multitask to finish everything. However, the downside of multitasking is that your focus is divided between two or more tasks and the result may not be satisfying.
On the contrary, when we wake up at 5 a.m., we can do our devotion, spend time for ourselves, and start doing more work. You will be surprised at how much work you have done effectively before noon and still have time to rest.
Good habit of achieving your dreams
Waking up early is a good habit for achieving your dreams. Successful people wake up early for their spiritual or career goals.
Though getting out of bed early is one of the difficult challenges we would face daily, if we want to attain our goals, we must be willing to discipline ourselves.
When you wake up early in the morning, you can get the fuel you need for your dreams. It is worth the daily struggle of rising in the dark.
How do I wake up early
Not all people are “morning people,” but one needs to develop good habits and discipline.
So, how can we practice waking up early?
Sleep early
One of the primary reasons it is difficult to wake up early is that you go to bed late. Having the self-discipline to fall asleep earlier may help you rise earlier each morning.
Additionally, getting seven to nine hours of sleep each night is vital. Try not to work overtime and do it early in the morning instead.
Put your alarm away from your bed
If you were not a morning person, it is easy to turn off your alarm clock and go back to sleep.
However, if you put your alarm clock away from your bed, you will be forced to get up and turn it off. This activity is an effective way to resist the temptation of sleeping again.
Waking up early is a habit that needs time, so expect a gradual result. Try to make small changes to your routine.
Avoid doing tasks until late at night
Have you ever woken up feeling tired? It may be because you have done so much work until late at night. This habit will not only hinder you from waking up early but also give you stress when you wake up.
Furthermore, not getting enough sleep will often cause your body to malfunction. A study shows that a person who goes a night without sleep will often have cognitive impairment.
Thus, if our task’s deadline were approaching, we must lessen our procrastination and manage our time wisely. When we do our jobs earlier, we can avoid cramming when the deadline is near.
Focus on your goal
Why do you have to wake up early? If you wanted to be closer to God and succeed in everything you do, you need to focus.
The focus could empower you to discipline your mind and body to wake up early because you know it is worth the sacrifice.
Sometimes, you will be demotivated, but discipline and focus will force you to wake up early.
Avoid midnight snack
Some studies revealed that having late snacks could cause acid to have acid-reflux.
Besides, drinking energy drinks and coffee may boost your energy so that you can study. Thus, it can make it harder for you to sleep.
We must control our sugary energy drinks and coffee intake if we want to wake up early. You can try drinking water or tea before bed to keep yourself hydrated.
Control yourself when browsing social media
We may lose track of time when we use social media before we sleep. Some use this habit so they can fall asleep, but it is not an effective way.
The more you browse your social media accounts or watch videos, the more you use your time staying awake rather than resting.
Thus, not having the self-discipline to use our social media accounts or watch videos could hinder us from getting up early.
It could also be one of the reasons you wake up tired and without energy.
Being an early riser is challenging but worth it
You have nothing to lose when you wake up early. On the contrary, it could help you open more doors of opportunity to become a better version of yourself.
Although it takes self-control and hard work to be an early riser, the struggles, and sacrifices will always be worth it.
