Why NOT so complicated - Divorce Minister
14 Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. 15 These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death.
-James 1:14-15, NLT
It is simple. They gave into the desires in their own hearts, evil desires, sinful desires. They failed–for whatever reason–to resist temptation.
Cheaters are examples of people with failed character.
According to James 1, they are on the path to spiritual death. Cheating is just one step closer to that awful outcome.
People running down that path of destruction do not need help pointing out the scenery. What they need is someone to help them TURN AROUND! In other words, blaming their surroundings is not help. Repentance is.
So much energy and money can be wasted pointing out the circumstances or “scenery” of the cheating. This helps no one spiritually.
The reason behind the cheating reside within the Cheater per James 1. You only resolve this sin by dealing with it internally.
The reason is in the heart of the Cheater. They need to learn to resist temptation OR better yet, put to death the evil desires that are present in their flesh (see Col 3:5).
