Why We Pray but Still Refuse to Let Go

Most of us don’t realize how tightly we hold onto our burdens.

We pray.
We ask God for peace.
We ask Jesus to help us carry the weight.

But deep down, we still cling to the very things exhausting us.

Fear.
Control.
Past failures.
The pressure to be enough.

In Matthew 11:28, Jesus gives one of the most comforting invitations in Scripture:

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Notice what He offers:

Rest.
Not more pressure.
Not performance.
Not pretending to be strong.

Real rest begins when we stop gripping everything so tightly.
Sometimes surrender doesn’t look dramatic.
Sometimes it simply means finally admitting:

“I can’t carry this alone anymore.”

And maybe that’s where peace actually starts.
