Will God solve all my problems and troubles?

When the borrowed axe head dropped into river Jordan while the sons of the prophets were felling trees, the one holding it screamed: “Alas, Master! For it was borrowed” (2 Kings 6:5). The young man cried out in desperation. Many believers in the civilized world approach prayer time as gentlemen and ladies. If you are really in need, it will show in the way you open your mouth loud to God.

This young man did not pretend. Some cannot cry out for fear of offending their neighbour. They do not want to be branded a ruffian in church. Bartimaeus – the erstwhile blind fellow cried to the Lord in a way that he could not be ignored.

In Psalm 50:15, God says, “And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me”. Although God gave us the right to call on Him, He knows which calls He answers. Some calls come and God says, ‘This fellow is just joking’. Some calls come and He says, ‘This fellow does not know what he wants’. Some calls come and God says, ‘This fellow is not yet under pressure by the problem. He can wait’. But there are some calls that come and the Lord says, ‘Angel so and so, go and attend to this my son. The matter must be very urgent’. That is why the desperate gets going in the things of the Kingdom.

When the young man said ‘Alas, Master’, he was transferring the problem to his master. One British tabloid asked me why there are so many miracles taking place in Africa while they hardly see any in Britain. I told them in Britain, they have good doctors, a planned economy, welfare package and fine hospitals equipped with drugs. But in Africa these are either not available or are in short supply. So the sick in Britain have hope to some extent in their health system. But in Africa, with no faith in the system, the only hope for survival is Jesus. When you realize that except Jesus heals you, you are bound to die, you will pray like the young man in 2 Kings 6:5 Nobody will beg you to have faith. How do you call on God today?

Is your call a ‘Hello’ or an ‘SOS’ call? Before the Court of Heaven, it pays to be desperate. How desperate are you? Open your mouth and call on Him today. If you study your Bible closely, you would notice that was the last time Jesus passed by Jericho. If blind Bartimaeus had closed his mouth, he would have remained blind forever. Be desperate today!
