Woman, Thou Art Loosed!

Since I started Kids in Ministry International in 2001 (just one month after 9-11), I have tried to carefully “stay in my lane,” which was children and, by extension, children’s ministry/ministers. I was told in one of the churches where I had been children’s pastor to keep my nose out of the youth ministry because I didn’t belong in that department. That was interesting because every time I held a kids/family conference, I had teens begging to come, saying, “You’re teaching kids things that nobody is teaching us!” But, other than allowing them to attend, I “stayed in my lane.”

At one of the churches where I had been children’s pastor, I was shocked to discover most of the children in my services were very prophetic beyond their years! I remember a seven-year-old girl walking up to me after church one day, saying, “You won’t always be teaching children. Someday, you will be teaching adults.” That was long before the thought really crossed my mind in a serious way.

How did You Raise Such Prophetic Children?

Because these children were so advanced in this area, I got extremely curious and started meeting with many of the parents. I would ask them, “How in the world did you raise such prophetic children?” I took copious notes of what they were telling me. Many of their comments I use in various teachings even today.

But the associate leader of that church thought I was taking the parents aside and counseling them! I was called into his office, and he told me in no uncertain terms to stay away from those parents because, as a single, with no children of my own, I had nothing of relevance to say to them. In other words, “Stay in your lane!” So, I have endeavored to do that. For over twenty years, every book or curriculum I have written, every speaking engagement I have taken, and all of my video teachings have centered on “my lane.”

The surprise was that as I was teaching children’s church volunteers and Sunday School teachers our Children’s Ministry Basics lessons (SSCM Level 1), many of the parents, who made up the majority of the attendees, came to me saying, “I wish someone would have told me these things when my children were young!” Parents were learning a lot from what I was teaching.

That began the journey of including a third level of training videos in SSCM called Revolutionary Family Ministry. But that was the limit of my reach to parents.

A SURPRISING INVITATION

Suddenly, however, in 2020, I got a surprise call from the man himself, Jeremiah Johnson, prophet and teacher of the Altar Global. He wanted to fly me into N.C. to join him in making a series of videos for an eCourse called “RAISING SUPERNATURAL KIDS E-COURSE.” You can still go through the course. It appears Jeremiah was a 16-year-old teenager when the movie, “Jesus Camp,” came out, and he loved it and has been following my ministry ever since! But he wanted me to speak on PARENTS! Surely, he knew I was single with no kids of my own, right?

The next surprise was in 2022. I was contacted by the editor of Destiny Image Publishing, Larry Sparks, and asked to write a book for them on spiritual parenting. I wanted to say, “Now, Larry, you do realize I’m not a parent, and I have no kids of my own, right?” But I bit my tongue because I didn’t want to lose this opportunity.

For almost a year, he and I collaborated back and forth. I would write and submit what I had in stages. He would read and approve. He told me this was exactly what he had in mind. I completed the book about nine months later, and he basically approved it and signed off on it. But, to my surprise, he called me one day and said, “Sorry, but we have decided not to continue because in doing market research, we found out the last two books we published on parenting didn’t make a profit. So we are going to release you from the contract.”

A BLESSING IN DISGUISE

As disappointing as it was, it was actually a blessing in disguise. If it had not been for the encouragement of Larry, I would never have had the bravery to write the book. In hindsight, now that we have published it ourselves, I see how it all was the hand of God. It is quickly becoming one of our fastest-selling books!

After quickly writing and publishing two more books within a six-month period, God began speaking to me. I knew something was changing in our ministry. I could feel the stirring. But I had little idea of what was happening. I knew that even my speaking engagements were changing. How I had done things for the last twenty years was shifting, but I didn’t have the full picture. I didn’t know what to do with what I was sensing.

After several trusted ministry friends began speaking into my life, my friend/pastor/prophetic minister and office manager here at KIMI, Jan McEachran, told me, “Becky, everything you have done in the last twenty years in KIMI has just been a dress rehearsal for what God is about to do in the next season.”

That went deep into my spirit, though I had no idea what it could mean. So, I have just continued to pray.
It has been a progressive revelation of what God is leading me and my team of leaders into. It would take too long to give you a step-by-step account of all of the things that have happened since then. So, fast-forwarding, let’s just say recently, the Holy Spirit has begun kicking the sides out of the ministry box I have lived in. It’s like one of my KIMI directors said when I shared this with my team, “It’s a ‘GPS Re-routing’ of who we are and what we are called to.” Another KIMI director said, “The way I see it, you are not changing your lane of ministry, but it is the Lord widening your lane. It has become a four-lane highway!”

And what is the new four-lane highway of Kids in Ministry International going forward?

CHILDREN —YOUTH—PARENTS—CHURCHES!

Yes, you read that right. We are now going to begin deliberately reaching out to teens, as well as other avenues!

For years already, I’ve had youth leaders asking me if I had anything for teens, and I had to say, “No. I have been so busy producing and doing for kids and kids’ ministers, I’ve had no time to even think about anything else.” I would just encourage them to take our kids’ curriculums, leave out the object lessons, and teach the content to their youth. But in the last couple of months, by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, we already have our first teen book—God Is Talking. Are You Listening? Who knew this was a first fruit and precursor of things to come?

There will soon be more materials as we begin to take our kids’ curriculums and reformat them for teens. It will be a long process. I’m going to need help because I can’t possibly do everything myself. God might be calling you to help me. But it’s going to happen. I am already being stirred to have either live conferences for teens or ZOOM conferences to teach Gen Z how to walk in the supernatural power of God! My leaders will also be doing the same around the world. Does this witness with your spirit? Let me know!

PARENTS ON THE RADAR!

Concerning the parents. By God’s orchestration, I have received three ministry invitations this summer to minister to PARENTS AND ADULTS! I had not traveled in over three and half years due to Covid, my parents, and my own health. I was like a bear coming out of hibernation! At my first meeting, it was like I was Tongue-tied knowing things were changing, but honestly, I did not have the full picture yet, and I stumbled big time.

But, suddenly, the wind of the Spirit caught me, and the remaining meetings for parents, where children and teens were present, were like FIRE. Even at that moment, I did not have the full revelation that I was now on a new four-lane highway. But, in those services, about 32 children and teens were dynamically filled with the Holy Spirit, speaking in tongues, and parents were set on fire. I believe it is a sign of things to come.

Jill Austin, an amazing prophetic voice in the early 2000s, prophesied over me, saying, ” What you’re doing is calling forth the Army. But you are calling forth not just children, but it’s a generational anointing that’s on you.” I have never forgotten this, but I just didn’t know what to do with it while “staying in my lane.”

Going forward, we will be expanding our reach in new ways to parents, as well. The parenting book is being highly praised by church planters and pastors, as well as parents and lay ministers. I have been taken off guard by the incredible response and some of the reactions and comments that have been made. It’s as though this is the right season, and we are right on time as God is reawakening parents to their holy call to raise spiritual champions. God is calling the generations to come together.

I have no idea what God is going to do with me and KIMI in the days, months, and years to come. But I know we’re on a new adventure. And I know I can’t do it all by myself. It’s far too big for me.

We will never stop writing and producing things for kids or kids’ ministers. In fact, I am absorbed in a new book project right now that I was going to call THE NEW WINESKIN OF CHILDREN’S MINISTRY. But just yesterday, sitting in church, the Holy Spirit corrected me and said, “You have to change the title. You are to call it THE NEW WINESKIN OF CHILDREN’S AND YOUTH MINISTRY!” So, already, there is a re-calibration of how I think about things. I need the wisdom of the Holy Spirit to navigate this. Pray for me to clearly walk in the leading of the Holy Spirit.
