You Can't Stop God's Purposes - A Nighttime Prayer

I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted. – Job 42:2 (NIV)

Please Pray:

God, I can imagine all kinds of grand purposes for my life. I’m proud enough to imagine myself as an especially important person in Your Kingdom. When I do, I get frustrated with the humble tasks you’ve put before me. I imagine these small tasks are obstacles between me and Your great purposes for me. I forget that they could be foundation stones for purposes You see and I can’t. In reality, I’m not big enough or important enough to get in the way of you fulfilling Your purposes. No human is! Remind me daily that you are, in fact, accomplishing your purposes in this world through me, through all of your people, and through all of your good creation–even those of us as small and silly as the squirrels. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Carlene started writing professionally when she was 20 years old and has finally agreed with God that she’s a writer, not just a “hack for hire.” She has worked as a journalist, a ghostwriter, a grant writer, the editor of New England Church Life and The New England Christian, a marketing project manager, and a fundraiser for nonprofit organizations. Her award-winning marketing communications describe traffic signal systems, roads, bridges, and water treatment plants. She’s written about Australian opals, Indian wedding wear, North American hockey memorabilia, and how to repair antique steam-powered farm equipment. She’s curious enough to explore almost anything, and grateful that wherever she goes, God is already there. She looks across woods and a marsh from her writing desk in small town Maine, just a few miles from her family’s third-generation wild blueberry farm.
