Keeping Up With Everything is Hard! – Pathways to Organization

Modern womanOne purpose of this blog is to encourage you as well as give tips on how to live a more organized life.  But one thing I know for sure:  life continues to get harder, more complicated and somewhat overwhelming.

An example; I walked into my closet with clean clothes to hang up and saw shelves full of clothes that needed to be re-organized.  Does that ever happen to you?  In a mad rush this weekend, I kept adding to the shelf clothes from different locations in the closet as I decided what to wear, etc.  Now, a mess but no time to re-organize the closet.

I also have a closet that is stuffed with items that I keep saying, “I’ll get it sorted out soon.”  Only, I don’t have the energy or the will power to do it!  Yes!  I may speak and write about organization but I struggle just like you.

Maybe you walk into the kitchen, open up the refrigerator and wow!  Stuff is piled up, all in the wrong places and you can’t find anything.  But you have to get dinner going so you don’t have time to clean it out.

Or, you only have today to get the car to the shop for an oil change and tires rotated.  But if you go today, then you won’t have the time to get something else done.  So, the car gets fixed but other things have to wait.

Or, you look at the stack of papers / receipts to go through so you can file your taxes and you want to cry.

Or, you go to the doctor and find out you need some tests.  And you realize that you don’t have the time or the emotional strength to get them done.

As you can see, our situations go from small issues to a life-threatening ones.  But no matter the issue, we are battling things to do every day that can pull down our joy in life.

How can organization help?  By teaching us to take each day, step by step.  When we start to feel overwhelmed, we need to stop and do something that will help us cope better.  Maybe a cup of coffee with a friend or your Bible or a good book.  Maybe a nap.  Maybe a walk.  Maybe writing in your journal or a phone call with a family member or friend.

Organization teaches us to do the best we can each day so that we, hopefully, can stay on top of the craziness of life.

   

 Action Plan

  1. Make the decision to keep your life, your home and your health organized.
  2. Make lists to help you with this.
  3. Take each section of your life (as meals, cleaning your home, teaching your children, your health) in tiny segments.  If you can only plan one meal, then just plan that one meal.  You will cope better by taking life day by day, step by step.
  4. Cover every day and every decision with prayer.  God wants to lead you and provide for you!

    God Reverses the Curse – Pathways to Organization

    I pray that this week you will take time to be with the Lord with praise and great thanksgiving for taking away the sting of death and giving us new life! He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” 2 The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’” 4 “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. 5 “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” 6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.

A famous quote from Maya Angelou says, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Let’s celebrate the Love Month of February with words of love and kindness.     If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. In 2 Chronicles 7:19-22, God says, “But if you turn away and forsake the decrees and command I have given you and go off to serve other gods and worship them, then I will uproot Israel from my land, which I have given them, and will reject this temple I have consecrated for my Name. … Because they have forsaken the Lord, the God of their ancestors, who brought them out of Egypt, and have embraced other gods, worshiping and serving them – that is why he brought all this disaster on them.” God means business when we worship ourselves and reject His Word.
