4 Simple Ways for How To Improve Your Health When Time Is In Short Supply

I believe that the greatest gift you can give your family and the world is a healthy you.

— Joyce Meyer

Health is wealth for a reason, because without it, you will find every area of life a difficulty. Turning over a new leaf isn’t always easy, but when you prioritize your health, you’re going to have more energy to do what matters most.

Some changes may be simple such as using a resource like Let’s Compare Medicare to help you transition to a new stage of your life by finding the right insurance to match your needs.

Other changes may take a little more time to see the benefits of. Give yourself some grace as you grow.

When you are already stressed from a hectic schedule, the last thing you need is more stress! Any changes made should help you feel empowered, even when they’re challenging.

As a follower of Christ, I like to ask Holy Spirit, “What should I make a priority today?” Then I listen for His answer. I find that following the Lord’s lead helps me feel less overwhelmed, become more organized, and focused on what truly matters at that time

I encourage you to ask Holy Spirit how to improve your health, personally. He can show you what’s really going on; where you’ve taken on too much or why something is a struggle for you. It may even involve letting a relationship go from your life that is toxic.

Whatever it is, let’s commit to doing it so we can be free — for ourselves and for those we love.

These tips below will help you start looking in the right places.

Keep it simple

This process doesn’t have to be overwhelming and scary, and it shouldn’t be!

Try sitting and thinking on where you are doing well in your mental and physical health; as well as where you’re not doing so well.

Pick one or two goals for each area you’re weak in. For example: “I am sitting too much all day.Your goal could be: “I’m going to get up every 30 minutes, stretch, and walk around some.”

Make your health goals as realistic as possible. This means starting in one area of your health and making those baby steps in the right direction.

If you need more sleep, then decide when you need to go to bed so you can feel fully rested. If you need to drink more, buy a water bottle that prompts you to drink more. The goals should always be easily doable.

Don’t fall into the trap of trying to do too much at once. It’s easy to get overwhelmed, which only makes you want to quit, especially when you don’t have much time to begin with!

Simple, slow, and steady wins the race. Focus on today’s goals, achieve those, celebrate the small wins and watch yourself gain confidence for the long-term plan.

Control your cortisol

Think of cortisol as nature’s built-in alarm system,” says WebMD.

Healthy levels of the cortisol hormone are our friend. It can help us by regulating sleep cycles, keeping inflammation levels down, and even gives us a bump in energy when we need to deal with a challenging situation.

But oh my goodness!! When your adrenal glands produce too much cortisol because your body stays in “panic alarm mode,” the effects on your health can be severe.

You might experience symptoms like:

  • Chronic headaches
  • Weight gain
  • Trouble sleeping at night
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Tummy troubles
  • Increased risk for heart disease
  • Difficulty concentrating or remembering things

I’m one of those people who naturally tends to worry and stress a lot. It’s something I have to really be mindful of.

Along with prayer, a few supplements I’ve found helpful to reduce the effects of stress are: Happy Camper Mood Support, Soothe Thyroid & Adrenal Support, and a high quality Omega 3 Fish Oil.

My other favorite? Applying Relax essential oil to the back of my neck and upper chest. I cannot tell you how much of a difference this has made for me! I apply it before bedtime to help with sleep and I also apply it before dealing with stressful events. I highly recommend giving this a try!

Note: I’m not a medical doctor. I’m just sharing my experience of what has worked for me. Every body is different. Please use caution when trying new supplements and speak to your doctor with any questions.

Support your immune system

Have you ever noticed that you get sick more often when you are working a lot or dealing with an especially stressful situation in your life? “I’m worried sick,” isn’t just a saying.

When our schedules are too full or we are feeling stressed to the max for prolonged periods of time, our immune systems really suffer.

We can give our immune systems a little boost by adding in supplements that help ‘keep the battery fully charged,’ so to speak. 😉

We dedicated an entire post to the immune support supplement Beta Glucan because it has been proven to be one of the best ways for how to improve your health & well-being overall.

Other supplements that help support our immune systems are vitamin C, D, B complex, Zinc, Elderberry, Garlic, Curcumin (turmeric), and more!

My husband and I take many of these on a daily basis and have personally witnessed our health improve. We rarely get sick with infections, we have less inflammation which means fewer aches and pains, and our overall wellness has increased.

Supplements aren’t miracles. We can’t just pop a pill and expect it to fix our health, but when combined with other healthy changes, the quality of your life can improve.

Find your groove

Create a routine that works for you. Nobody knows your schedule like you do so it’s impossible to tell someone else what the right time of day to exercise is, when they should eat, etc.

If you don’t have large blocks of time to exercise, try shorter at home workouts that will give you maximum benefit in less time. Plus, you can do it when it feels good for you.

No matter how you design it, one of the simplest ways for how to improve your health is having a plan and being consistent with it.

It doesn’t matter how small your daily goals are for this routine. Start somewhere. Before you know it, you’ll be in the swing of workouts and eating well, and you’ll be feeling accomplished because of it!

Conclusion

Your health should always be a priority because without it, every part of your life can suffer as result.

Give yourself permission to say “I matter!

One of the biggest reasons I focus so much on health here at Wholeness Haven is because I know firsthand what a lack of it robs from your life.

My prayer over you is that God would grant you the strength and grace needed to make any changes on your heart to do. I pray peace over your heart and mind as you face these challenges head on and an increase of faith when fear shouts in your face. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

You can do hard things with Christ – (Philippians 4:13). Never forget that.
