π‘ͺ𝑨𝑡 𝑰 𝑱𝑼𝑺𝑻 𝑺𝑳𝑨𝑷 𝒀𝑢𝑼 𝑨𝑡𝑫 𝑹𝑬𝑷𝑬𝑡𝑻 𝑳𝑨𝑻𝑬𝑹?

The above title doesn’t sound like the kind of question a Christian should be asking right? You have no idea how irritation, disappointment and confusion could be stepping stones leading towards anger.
Some time ago I visited Access bank to report an issue, and the lady in the Customer Care Section was really rude to me. If my self esteem tank wasn’t full, it would have been bad.
The lady almost made me forget how much I loved Jesus. I almost forgot who I was representing. I was talking to her and she either decided not to listen or she found someone better to listen to.
I knew I had to do one of two things : cry or scream at her. I really wanted to scream at her like a Lagos girl (πΏπ‘Žπ‘”π‘œπ‘  𝑖𝑠 π‘Ž 𝑐𝑖𝑑𝑦 𝑖𝑛 π‘π‘–π‘”π‘’π‘Ÿπ‘–π‘Ž).

My point is not to justify why it would have been legal or worth it to scream it to her. It’s to point out the fact that Christians feel too. Sadness. Anger. Hurt. It would be a lie to say since I started walking with Jesus, it’s been a β€˜feelingless’ journey, one devoid of the negative feelings too.

Dear growing Christian, you are human. I am human. Being a Christian doesn’t make you less of a human, it makes you a human who is strong enough to keep unhealthy and negative emotions in check. It helps you not go overboard. It helps you not react to the feeling of anger the way anyone who isn’t a Christian would have reacted. This is a reminder that when you feel any of those negative feelings, your response is what makes it a sin or not. Trust God and believe that you’re gradually manifesting in His fruits, that is why you make decisions which glorify Him, despite the fact that you might be angry or hurt or sad. There’s help!
