Every believer must understand the need to pray for their leaders. They are just like everyone else, sinners saved by grace, and need as much or more prayer than anyone else. According to the word of God, spiritual leaders need to be given double honour.
Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine. (1 Timothy 5:17)
What are these 3 urgent prayer points for spiritual leaders that need immediate attention?
There are five different offices that are essential for the gospel to be spread all over the world. The Apostles, Prophets, Pastors, Evangelists, and Teachers are all critical to our spiritual foundation. The last days bring in various trials and temptations that cause them to fall away. Our prayers, as righteous believers, are valuable and necessary.
- Pray that they be revived, renewed and refined to be the examples God called them out to be. (1 Peter 5:1-3)
- Jesus said, learn of me for I am humble and lowly at heart (Matthew 11:29). Pray they stay humble and poor in spirit so they can stay focused on doing the perfect will of God, like Jesus.
- Pray they don’t get settled in their ministries; so they don’t become bossy and condemning. Or be full of gossip and divisive talk. That they do not divide the flock.
With great responsibility, comes great power. When God calls a person for full time ministry, it’s a responsibility that draws the power of God. A greater destruction awaits those who minister but fail to live up to it. In the last days, many false apostles, teachers and converts will arise. Only Jesus can help discern right from wrong.
Be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit to purify yourselves everyday. Jesus is coming soon. Praise God and Amen!
