4 ways to become an attractive godly woman.

I hope that this blog post meets you well? It’s been just over a week since my last post and as much as I strive to be consistent in my posting, life has become very very busy lately (extra shifts to manage at work etc 🙈). Anyways today I want to share a few priceless gems with my fellow ladies (gents please feel free to add your 2 cents by commenting below this post with your words of wisdom, we’d much appreciate it). I know that I’ve done a series on the book of Ruth in the past BUT reading through the book of Ruth this year a few things stood out to me which I simply cannot keep to myself.
[Side-note: This is why it’s so important to continuously read over the Bible. No matter how many times you read the Bible you will always learn something new, the Holy Spirit will deepen your understanding and you’ll get fresh revelation].
Without further ado I will now share 4 tips on how to become a godly attractive woman. Please bear in mind that this list is by no means exhaustive and I’m sure that there are many more qualities which a godly attractive woman can possess or obtain.
1. Showing love and kindness towards others.
When you show love and kindness to others you position yourself in a place where showers of blessings will fall on you (even if others don’t notice your efforts God sees your heart). God rewards kindness, and He sees your labour of love! Don’t forget that being kind can lead to open doors of opportunity. Ruth was a woman who took it upon herself to care for her elderly mother-in-law by working to provide for her needs, and this caught Boaz’s attention.
Ruth 2:11-13 ~ “Ruth fell at his feet and thanked him warmly. “What have I done to deserve such kindness?” she asked. “I am only a foreigner.” “Yes, I know,” Boaz replied. “But I also know about everything you have done for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband. I have heard how you left your father and mother and your own land to live here among complete strangers. May the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge, reward you fully for what you have done.” “I hope I continue to please you, sir,” she replied. “You have comforted me by speaking so kindly to me, even though I am not one of your workers.”
Ruth 2:19 ~ “Where did you gather all this grain today?” Naomi asked. “Where did you work? May the Lord bless the one who helped you!” So Ruth told her mother-in-law about the man in whose field she had worked. She said, “The man I worked with today is named Boaz.”
Hebrews 11:6 ~ “And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.”
2. Being hardworking.
Being a hardworking woman is attractive. I must mention that there is a difference between being hardworking and overworking, with the latter leading to negative results such as burnout and potentially strained relationships. A GREAT way to catch peoples attention is to show enthusiasm with regards to the work that you do (this is not only limited to a person’s occupation an individual can show enthusiasm towards their duties in other areas such as volunteering, serving in church or lending a helpful hand or listening ear to those in need etc).
Ruth 2:5-7 ~ “Then Boaz asked his foreman, “Who is that young woman over there? Who does she belong to?” And the foreman replied, “She is the young woman from Moab who came back with Naomi. She asked me this morning if she could gather grain behind the harvesters. She has been hard at work ever since, except for a few minutes’ rest in the shelter.”
3. Having good personal hygiene and wearing nice clothing.
We are unique beings created by God, therefore we have different likes, dislikes, hobbies and interests. What I may view as a nice item of clothing could be what someone else finds unpleasant, and for that reason my advice to Christian ladies is to aspire to dress in a godly manner through wearing items which express your character, and which honour God. Reality is that humans are attracted to nice smells and nice ornaments. The human eye is easily drawn to bright colours such as red and yellow they tend to catch our eyes more often than not, which is why I believe that you should care for your temple by dressing in your favourite colours or wearing jewellery sets that you love etc. Although our focus should not solely be upon outward appearance because the Bible reminds us that a godly, caring, and noble character is worth more than rubies one should not neglect looking after their physical body and their appearance. Having good personal hygiene and wearing beautiful clothing which glorifies God is attractive.
Ruth 3:1-3 ~ “One day Naomi said to Ruth, “My daughter, it’s time that I found a permanent home for you, so that you will be provided for. Boaz is a close relative of ours, and he’s been very kind by letting you gather grain with his young women. Tonight he will be winnowing barley at the threshing floor. Now do as I tell you take a bath and put on perfume and dress in your nicest clothes. Then go to the threshing floor, but don’t let Boaz see you until he has finished eating and drinking.”
1 Timothy 4:8 ~ “Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come.”
4. A good reputation
Ruth had a good reputation within her community. Her good deeds provided evidence to the watching world that she was a warm natured, virtuous and loving individual. You can build a good reputation by treating people with kindness and respect, overlooking wrongs, and repaying evil with good. Basically the key to building a great reputation is by imitating Christ. Aspire to live like Christ through obeying His word (1 John 2:6).
Ruth 3:11 ~ “Now don’t worry about a thing, my daughter. I will do what is necessary, for everyone in town knows you are a virtuous woman.”
An additional gem.
I was going to leave this gem out but I do think that it’s something very important to take into consideration. Ruth did not disregard Boaz because he was older than her. I know that we all have our preferences which is absolutely fine, BUT we shouldn’t shut out an amazing person because they’re 1 year older than our ideal age preference. (Just to clarify I do not condone pedophilia, the above statement is geared towards adults who have the mental capacity to make an informed decision to pursue a marital relationship). Ruth didn’t discriminate against Boaz with regards to his age which was something he had no control over. It’s good to have standards so do not disregard your views and beliefs and settle for less than God’s best, but don’t miss out on amazing person because of being overly picky. Are you going to reject someone because they don’t have a beard, or because they’re not dark enough or light enough? As mentioned before you can have preferences but our sole focus should not only be on outward appearance. Focusing on looks alone can lead to destruction and pain.
Ruth 3:10 ~ “The Lord bless you, my daughter!” Boaz exclaimed. “You are showing even more family loyalty now than you did before, for you have not gone after a younger man, whether rich or poor.”
^^^ Showing respect to others irrespective of wether they have a little or a lot makes a person approachable (it’s an attractive personality to have). Strive to show kindness to both young and old, to those who are mentally stable or disabled.
