A Testimony of God's Faithfulness Grace for Yesterday, Strength for Today, and Hope for Tomorrow

The Lord has blessed my household beyond measure. His goodness has reached far beyond our material needs; He has touched my soul, strengthened my heart, and sustained my spirit. He has protected me from destruction, led me through difficult seasons, brought me into green pastures, and restored my soul. When I look back on my life, I see the hand of God at work in ways that words can scarcely express.

I have experienced His guidance through Scripture, prayer, dreams, and moments of profound conviction. I have witnessed His protection, received wisdom for life's challenges, and found strength when my own strength was insufficient. Time and again, He has rescued me from circumstances that threatened to overwhelm me and redirected my steps when I could not see the way forward.

There were seasons when I struggled with addiction, inconsistency, manipulation, and dishonesty. I was not always the person I aspired to become. Yet the Lord did not abandon me to my struggles. Through His mercy and grace, He began transforming my life, correcting my course, and teaching me to walk in greater wisdom, discipline, and faithfulness. What once held me captive no longer has the same authority over my life. His grace has been greater than my failures, and His mercy has given me reasons to hope again.

God has also blessed me in tangible ways. He has provided a home, blessed me with children, enabled me to acquire material possessions, and opened doors to financial opportunities. He made a way for my education through Phd Studies and professional development, leading me from local and international non-governmental organisations to opportunities within the United Nations and African Union systems. He has taken me to more than thirty countries and enabled me to travel extensively across the world. These opportunities have expanded my understanding, strengthened my experience, and allowed me to contribute to work that reaches far beyond my immediate surroundings.

I do not recount these blessings to boast of my achievements, but to acknowledge the One who made them possible. Every open door, every opportunity, every lesson, and every season of growth reminds me that I have not walked this journey alone.

When the Present Season Tests Your Faith

Today, I find myself in a season of unemployment and uncertainty. Yet I refuse to allow this season to erase the testimony of God's faithfulness in my life.

I know what He has done for me in the past, and I draw strength from that knowledge as I face the present. My circumstances have changed, but my God has not. My professional status may be uncertain, but my identity and worth are not defined by employment, position, income, or recognition. I belong to the Lord, and my hope rests in Him.

There are moments when uncertainty brings pressure, when waiting becomes exhausting, and when circumstances seem to challenge everything I have believed. Nevertheless, I choose not to interpret my life solely through the difficulties of the present. I look at the broader story—the doors God has opened, the dangers from which He has protected me, the lessons He has taught me, and the countless occasions when His provision arrived in ways I could not have anticipated.

The God who sustained me yesterday remains my source of strength today.

I believe this season, too, will pass. I trust that new opportunities will come and that, in His wisdom and timing, God will open the door He has prepared for me. I do not claim to know precisely when or how this will happen. I simply choose to wait with faith, knowing that uncertainty about the future does not mean the absence of God's presence.

The challenges I face may be real, but they are not greater than His goodness. Disappointment may visit me, but it will not have the final word over my life. I will not allow fear, frustration, or the pressure of circumstances to rob me of the gratitude that comes from remembering what the Lord has already done.

    Remembering His Promises

The words of Jeremiah 29:11 continue to strengthen my heart. The Lord declares that He knows the plans He has for His people—plans for peace and hope, and for a future.

These words remind me that God sees beyond what I can see. He knows the beginning, the middle, and the end of my journey. I may not understand every turn along the way, but I can entrust my future to His wisdom.

I hold firmly to the promise of Isaiah 60:22:

“When the time is right, I, the Lord, will make it happen.”

This assurance does not mean that waiting is always easy or that faith removes every question. Rather, it reminds me that I can remain steadfast without having every answer. I can continue to pray, prepare, learn, and act responsibly while trusting God with what lies beyond my control.

My responsibility is to remain faithful in the present. His timing is not mine to command, but I can trust His character while I wait.

I pray for sustaining grace—not only for the day when the door opens, but for every day that precedes it. I ask the Lord to preserve my heart from bitterness, my mind from anxiety, and my spirit from discouragement. May I remain humble in seasons of abundance and steadfast in seasons of scarcity. May the blessings I seek never become more important to me than the One from whom every good gift comes.

    Yesterday's Testimony, Today's Strength, Tomorrow's Hope

When I remember the difficult days of my past, I cannot deny the goodness of God. He has brought me through periods of distress, restored my hope, and given me reasons to rise again. He has corrected me when I was wrong, strengthened me when I was weak, and provided direction when the way ahead seemed uncertain.

My past is therefore more than a collection of memories. It is a testimony that strengthens my faith in the present and gives me hope for the future.

I have learned that gratitude is not reserved for the days when everything goes according to plan. True gratitude also grows in the waiting—in the quiet moments when answers have not yet come, opportunities remain uncertain, and faith must reach beyond what the eyes can see.

I will not wait until my unemployment ends to praise the Lord. I will not postpone my gratitude until another opportunity arrives. I will praise Him now, because He has already been faithful. I will thank Him now, because His goodness has sustained me thus far. And I will trust Him tomorrow, because the testimony of yesterday gives me reason to hope.

My prayer is that I will never become so preoccupied with what I am waiting for that I forget what I have already received. May I never allow a temporary difficulty to overshadow a lifetime of grace.

A Prayer of Thanksgiving and Surrender

Lord, I thank You for Your goodness to me and my household. Thank You for the doors You have opened, the opportunities You have provided, the lessons You have taught me, and the protection You have extended over our lives.

Thank You for rescuing me from destructive paths, restoring my soul, and giving me the wisdom to make better choices. Thank You for the people You have placed in my life, the knowledge You have allowed me to acquire, the work You have entrusted to me, and the experiences that have shaped my journey.

Thank You for the blessings I recognise and for those I may never fully understand. Thank You for the dangers from which You have protected me, the disappointments that have taught me patience, and the difficult seasons that have reminded me of my dependence on You.

Lord, I bring my present circumstances before You. You know my needs, my concerns, my hopes, and my unanswered questions. I ask You to open the right doors at the right time. Lead me towards opportunities where I can use my experience, fulfil my responsibilities, serve others, and contribute meaningfully to the work You have placed before me.

As I wait, give me sustaining grace. Keep my heart peaceful, my mind clear, and my spirit steadfast. Guard me against discouragement, bitterness, and the temptation to measure my worth by my circumstances. Teach me to remain faithful in the waiting and diligent in the preparation.

Above all, Lord, let my desire for the next blessing never cause me to overlook the blessings already in my hands. Let my testimony remain rooted not merely in what You provide, but in who You are.

I trust You with my household, my future, my career, and every uncertainty that lies ahead. I surrender the timing and the outcome to Your wisdom. I believe that this season does not define the whole of my story, and I choose to walk forward in faith rather than fear.

You have been good to me. You have shown me mercy. You have sustained me through distress and brought me to this point in my journey. For all these things, I give You thanks.

    My Declaration of Faith

I will not be shaken by the uncertainty of the present. I will not bow my head in defeat, nor will I allow disappointment to silence my praise. With humility and confidence, I will lift my head and remember that the Lord has been with me.

I will continue to hope, pray, prepare, and move forward. I will resist the temptation to surrender to fear, and I will not allow adversity to become the measure of my future.

I know that I cannot control every circumstance, but I can choose where I place my trust. My confidence is not in the certainty of my plans, the strength of my resources, or the approval of other people. My confidence is in the faithfulness of God.

I will wait patiently for His direction. I will welcome His grace for each day. I will continue to give thanks, even before I see the answer to my prayers.

For the Lord has brought me this far, and I will not forget His goodness.

God is good, all the time.

O Lord, I will lift my voice and bless Your name. You are the living God, worthy of worship, honour, and adoration. Thank You for loving me and caring for my household. Thank You for sustaining us through every season and giving us hope for the days ahead.

Until the next door opens, my praise will continue. Until the answer comes, my gratitude will remain. And when the day of fulfilment arrives, I pray that I will remember this season—not with bitterness, but with humility and thanksgiving for the grace that sustained me through it.

What God has done in my past is a testimony for my present and a source of hope for my future.

I trust in Him. I wait upon Him. And I give Him all the glory.

    Amen.
