Are You Experiencing Bible Poverty? - Blog - Eternal Perspective Ministries

One of our staff sent me this video about “If Your Bible Was Your Cell Phone…” I thought this was great:

It’s funny, but it makes a good point. And it’s a reminder that there are two kinds of Bible poverty in the world: first, the poverty of those who don’t have God’s Word in their own language; and second, the poverty of being surrounded by Bibles, but not reading them.

Scripture confronts sin in our lives, encourages our obedience, and gives us delight in Jesus. It is the source of correction, training, eternal perspective, and joyful rest from weariness and sorrow. Who but the devil and sin itself would distract us from such treasure?

      The Mall or the Manger?

      Much has changed since the God of the universe decorated the night sky with the star of Bethlehem and directed the choir of angels in a chorus announcing the birth of Our Savior, Jesus Christ. But the commercialism doesn’t have to rule in our hearts and homes. This year let’s focus on the Christ Child and remember the true meaning of the holiday season. As we turn our eyes to the Babe in the manger, we will not view Christmas as a dreaded obligation or a major retail event. It will be a time of joyous celebration, honoring the One Who came to give us eternal life and worshipping our Heavenly Father.
