Memorise: “And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed. and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them” (Acts 16:25).

Read: John 4:23-24

To be successful in any area of life, it is good to study the lives of others who had succeeded in that particular area, to find out what they did which other people ignored. For all those who found favour with God, there are certain characteristics common to them. The first one is that they knew how to worship God. If you want divine favour, you must learn the art of worshipping God.

The problem is that many of us have remained ardent complainers. We complain about everything. If you wake up in the morning and say, “God you have brought me into another day. I have been asking you for this particular simple miracle but you have not responded. What kind of God are you, anyway?” Acts 16:25 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.

Then God looks away another direction an d sees someone who woke up the same morning and says, “Good morning, Daddy Thank you for this new day. I know with you there is hope for me since you did not allow the enemy to snuff out life from me over the night. Throughout today, I am going to dance and praise you.” Which of them do you think will find favour with God?

Our reading says, God is a spirit and that God is looking for those who will worship Him in spirit and in truth. May He find you qualified for favour. Do not wait to be pushed around by anybody. Arise and worship God. I will share this little secret with you. Whenever I am in the bathroom, I sing to God. There is nobody to criticize my voice. I also dance to Him since there is nobody to determine whether my legs are missing the beat or not.

A close look at Abraham shows that he was constantly building altars for God. Between Genesis 12 and Genesis13 alone, He built four altars just to worship God. As soon as Noah descended from the Ark, he built an altar for the Lord (Genesis 8:20-22). What of David?

He excelled in worshipping God. Ever wondered how he survived all the atrocities he committed? He knew the way into God’s heart was through worship. He regularly followed that path.

In 1 Corinthians 14:15, 18, Paul said He will both sing to God in the spirit and in understanding. You can be sure he excelled in spiritual songs and worship to God. Do you want favour? Begin to worship God from today. Ensure that you excel in praising and worshipping the Most High God. You shall find favour in His sight!

Spend at least one hour worshipping God in spirit and in truth.

Make no request: Just worship Him.
