Beholding the Glory of the Lord to Reflect Him

New JerusalemCreated man, after regeneration with the eternal life of God, can express God. This expression is God’s purpose in creating man in His image. God is carrying out His purpose now and will do so until the fullest conclusion in New Jerusalem.

Second Corinthians 3:18 speaks of this expression. “We all with unveiled face, beholding and reflecting like a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord Spirit.”

We do not express God by our natural effort. Rather, we behold the glory of the Lord. Then spontaneously we reflect Him. While we are beholding and reflecting, others will see Him in our reflection.

To accomplish such a reflection, we need to turn our heart to the Lord (2 Cor. 3:16), to behold Him. Then our being is “unveiled.” To turn to Him is to turn away from everything else. We turn away from our anxieties, casting all our cares on Him. We turn away from beholding earthly matters to behold His heavenly things. We turn away from what is temporal to what is eternal.

When we do this, we behold His glory and we are transformed “from glory to glory” to radiate Him more. The fullness of this radiation is New Jerusalem, where we will behold and radiate the glory of the Lord continually.

Lord, grant us increased turning of our hearts to You today and every day.
