The Bible story of Joseph shows he is one the greatest characters in the Bible. What are the qualities of Joseph that makes him a great Bible lesson in good character and leadership quality?

  1. He was a special child given birth to answer in long prayer – Genesis 30 vs. 22 – Then God remembered Rachel, and God listened to her and opened her womb.
  2. He took away the reproach of barrenness on RachelGenesis 30 vs. 23 – And she conceived and bore a son, and said, “God has taken away my reproach.”
  3. 3.      He was more righteous than his brothers, refused to participate or join them in evilGenesis 37 vs. 2 – This is the history of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brothers. And the lad waswith the sons of Bilhah and the sons of Zilpah, his father’s wives; and Joseph brought a bad report of them to his father.Joseph bible

  5. He had a divine gift of dreamsGenesis 37 vs. 5 – Now Joseph had a dream, and he told it to his brothers; and they hated him even more., Genesis 40 vs. 8 – And they said to him, “We each have had a dream, and there is no interpreter of it.”So Joseph said to them, “Do not interpretations belong to God? 7. He was a prophetGenesis 37 vs. 7 and 9 There we were, binding sheaves in the field. Then behold, my sheaf arose and also stood upright; and indeed your sheaves stood all around and bowed down to my sheaf.” Then he dreamed still another dream and told it to his brothers, and said, “Look, I have dreamed another dream. And this time, the sun, the moon, and the eleven stars bowed down to me.”

Please tell me where they are feeding their flocks. 17 And the man said, “They have departed from here, for I heard them say, ‘Let us go to Dothan.’” So Joseph went after his brothers and found them in Dothan. 18 Now when they saw him afar off, even before he came near them, they conspired against him to kill him.
  10. Favoured by God – Genesis 39 vs. 3 and 21 –  3And his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord made all he did to prosper in his hand. 21 But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him mercy, and He gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.
