Bible verses about being generous

Who are we not to give cheerfully to others when our Heavenly Father generously provides everything to us, even to the point of His son’s death?

Being generous is one of God’s characteristics we must possess as His children. Just like Jesus Christ, we should not choose whom to help but offer it to everyone who is needed, regardless of who they are and their status in society.

First, let us understand the meaning of generosity.

Understanding generosity

Generosity mirrors God’s love and responses to His grace. Being generous means understanding that we do not possess everything that we have. It is about sharing with others what God has given for the advancement of the kingdom and the glory of God.

Moreover, generosity is about understanding the biblical principle of stewardship. It means acknowledging that God owns everything, and all we have comes from Him. Lastly, it is about knowing that our resources are assets to be invested in God’s Kingdom.

Besides, it is a confession that Jesus Christ is Lord over our money, possessions, positions, authority, and talents.

Do it out of love

The secret of giving generously is love. God’s love made Him sacrifice His begotten son to give us the gift of salvation and restore our broken relationship with Him.

Furthermore, His fantastic love made Him forgive us despite our sins and shortcomings. His love caused Him to hear our prayers and petitions. So whenever we struggle to share what we have, remember that God has generously given His love for us without a doubt.
