Christ is All and in All

In Ephesians 3 is a prayer for God to strengthen us into our inner man, our regenerated human spirit, that Christ may make His home in our heart with the goal that we be filled unto all the fullness of God for His glory. This is our present foretaste of New Jerusalem.

New JerusalemIn Colossians 3:9-11 we “have put off the old man,” the natural man in Adam, and have “have put on the new man” where “Christ is all and in all.”

This new man is in the process of “being renewed.” This renewal happens in us and is “according to the image of Him who created” this new man. (This creation was by Christ on the cross – Eph. 2:15).

Our renewing according to the image of Christ is for us to display Christ now and to be prepared to fully match the newness of New Jerusalem.

Colossians 3:11 proclaims that this new man with the image of Christ displays nothing of the multitude of nationalities, cultures, or social differences which are strongly manifest in the old man. Rather, “Christ is all and in all.”

Christ is all and He is in us all and the Spirit is renewing us away from all the old distinctions to exhibit Christ in the one new man and even more in New Jerusalem.
