Creative And Effective Ways To Study The Bible And Pray: Part 1 – Breath Prayer
Let the words from the book of the law be always on your lips. Meditate on them day and night so that you may be careful to live by all that is written in it. If you do, as you make your way through this world, you will prosper and always find success. (Joshua 1:8 VOICE)
Breath Prayer is a meditative, contemplative, and transformative Bible meditation practice that draws inspiration from Scripture, particularly focusing on verses that emphasize the Presence and grace of God. This Bible meditation practice involves repeating short Bible verses or positive affirming phrases that are aligned with the Word of God in rhythm with your breath, creating a deep sense of communion and intimacy with God.
Breath Prayer is a simple yet profound way to engage with the living Word of God through the very act of simply breathing. It invites us as believers to immerse ourselves into the sacred text of God’s Word, allowing it to become His living Presence within our hearts, minds, souls, and spirits.
Today, through the Bible meditation practice of breath prayer, we will explore the beautiful imagery of God as our Best Friend and Shepherd—the One who lovingly and graciously provides and supplies all our needs. As we practice using breath prayer to pray and breathe through today’s Scripture, let us intentionally and intimately draw near to the One who abundantly loves and cares for us.
As you begin your prayer time, take a few intentional deep breaths, inviting the Presence of your Best Friend and Shepherd, Yahweh, into your secret and sacred space. With each inhale, allow His love and care to fill your heart, and with each exhale, release any feelings of lack or insufficiency.
As you meditate on today’s Scripture, relax and simply repeat the following breath prayer meditation exercise.
Inhale/breathe in: Yahweh is my Best Friend and my Shepherd.
Exhale/breathe out: I always have more than enough.
Repeat this breath prayer for 5 to 15 minutes or until you feel God’s Presence with you.
Let these words become a declaration of God’s divine provision and sufficiency in your life. Embrace the truth that in Him, you lack nothing. Trust that He will provide and supply all of your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
Throughout the day, return to this breath prayer whenever you feel the need to experience the promise of God’s supernatural provision afresh. Allow this prayer to be a reminder of His deep love and constant care for you. You are His beloved child. You have a rich inheritance in Him. It is His promise that His blessings and favor will overflow in your life.
Take some time today to journal your experience and the moments when you felt or experienced God’s abundant provision. May you walk in the assurance of God’s heavenly provision as you commune with Him and find sweet rest in His loving guidance and companionship.
The Scripture in today’s breath prayer is Psalms 23:1 TPT.
Yahweh is my Best Friend and my Shepherd. I always have more than enough. (Psalms 23:1 TPT)
