Do You Find it Hard Staying Consistent?
I’ve come to understand that we as Christian youths struggle with staying consistent, and honestly it’s not just because we don’t love God or lack ambition, but because life can feel overwhelming, especially when balancing spiritual walk, responsibilities, and personal growth.
Here are a few reminders that might help:
1. Invite God into Your Goals
Your goals are not too “small” or “personal” for God. Proverbs 16:3 says, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”
Whether it’s fitness, spiritual growth, career advancement, or writing a book, lay it before God. He strengthens what’s surrendered.
2. Discipline Over Motivation
Motivation will fail. Discipline that is rooted in grace will carry you. 2 Timothy 1:7 reminds us we have a spirit of power, love, and self-discipline. Start small. Build routines. Create rhythms that include God in the process (prayer walks, writing after devotion, etc.).
3. Remember Your “Why”
Why did you set this goal? Was it to grow, impact lives, or fulfill purpose? Keeping your why in sight helps you push through discouragement. Galatians 6:9 encourages us: “Let us not grow weary in doing good…” Stay faithful. The harvest will come.
4. Community Accountability Helps
Don’t do it alone. Share your goals with trusted friends, mentors, or your Christian community. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 shows us that two are better than one—when one falls, the other helps them up. Let’s check in on each other, not just spiritually but in personal growth too.
5. Grace Is Not Laziness.
You’ll mess up. You’ll skip days. You’ll feel tired. But don’t give up. Grace is not an excuse to quit; it’s the strength to try again. Romans 8:1 reminds us there’s no condemnation. Pick up where you left off.
Dear Amazing, Growing, Striving Christian, you’re not lazy. You’re human. But with God, you’re also empowered. Let’s normalize struggling, but not quitting. Let’s grow in graced consistency, not perfection.
Hold up, are you still not a member of the growing Christian community?
