PREVENTABLE DEATH

Memorise: “Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God” (Rev 3:2)

Read: Revelation 3:1-6

By Pastor E. Adeboye

One error of modern leaders is that on an increasing rate, they tend to study the Bible not for self growth and development, but to be able to feed others. If you are feeding others, when will you ever be fed? Is it not hypocrisy to feed others while you are starving?

At every given opportunity we brought it out to read or study. In 1976, we travelled to Kenya for a World Conference. One morning, while I was coming out of the toilet, I met Brother Kumuyi going into the toilet. He saw my Bible in my hand, and I saw his in his hand. We exchanged glances and laughed because he knew that I was studying my Bible in the toilet, and he was about to do the same.

We gave God’s Word a prominent place in our lives. Every spare moment must be used up for the Lord. Today, how is it with you? Believers find it a challenge to create time to study their Bible. Irrespective of your prevailing circumstances, create time for the Word.

Jesus says you should strengthen the good things in your life that are about to die. Don’t let them die. It is time to go back to your first love. Have quality Bible study.

Cultivate a healthy prayer, worship and thanksgiving life style. What are those good traits, habits or customs you have imbibed? Let them not die! You can prevent this death!

Every Word of God you read, study, memorize, meditate on and put into practice keeps you some distance from spiritual and physical death.
