Gifts Given Abundantly

1x
“…I come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” – John 10:10 (NKJV)

Ever watched a rags to riches movie? The lowly down trodden nobody gets connected to one person that completely changes their perspective and gives them instant access to the fancier things of life.

Believing in and walking with Jesus is a gift that completely changes lives and gives instant access to better things in life. It pays dividends to have a relationship with Jesus.

When we get to know Jesus, not only are we getting a gift, but Jesus is the gateway to more gifts. We get the gifts of eternal life, relationship with the father, access to the Holy Spirit, and much more. The more we seek the Trinity, the more we receive. We receive the fruits of the spirit, which means, among other fruits, we receive more love, more joy, more peace, and more kindness. We also gain hope and strength in times where we may not be able to get it ourselves.

That being said, we are told to whom much is given much is required. This isn’t just a command for our finances. God blesses us so that we can bless others.

The more you are blessed with love, peace, hope, gentleness, and kindness, ask God to reveal ways for you to give it away. The blessed thing is, the more you give it away, the more God will restore what you have given. We never know who may need our abundant gifts. It could be that frazzled gate agent at a busy airport, a tired store clerk, a weary mom with rowdy children, or that delivery person coming with another package.

Questions for Reflection:

  1. What do you have in abundance that you can offer to someone else?
  2. Who can you bless today with one or two of your gifts?
  3. After giving your gift, how did giving to someone else make you feel?
