God Is The Ultimate Judge Who Executes Justice
Psalm 75 offers a bold proclamation that rises above the noise of human pride and earthly confusion. The Psalmist didn’t hesitate to declare judgment from God, the ultimate judge.
It is God alone who judges; he decides who will rise and who will fall. Psalm 75:7
The Psalmist lifted his voice in gratitude and worship. He recognized that God judges the earth with perfect wisdom and unshakable fairness.
You have to admit, we live in a world filled with injustice, corruption, pride, and confusion. This Psalm, however, directs our hearts toward Him who rules with flawless righteousness.
Verse one begins with a word of gratitude because thanksgiving flows naturally when God draws near. His presence pushes away all fear and despair and eliminates confusion.
We thank you, O God! We give thanks because you are near. People everywhere tell of your wonderful deeds. Psalm 75:1
Then the psalm shifts from praise to a divine announcement. God, the ultimate judge, stated His case against the wicked and the proud. He spoke about how He will deal with them in His timing.

God, The Ultimate Judge, Spoke
- I will bring justice against the wicked.
- When the earth quakes and its people live in turmoil, I am the one who keeps its foundations firm.
- I warned the proud, ‘Stop your boasting!’
- I told the wicked, ‘Don’t raise your fists!’ Psalm 75:2-4
Here God addresses the proud—those who trust in their own strength or status. He calls them to stop their boasting. The raised fist symbolizes defiance, rebellion, and self-promotion.
Human pride often rushes toward recognition or dominance. It believes that God’s power can’t stop it. It doesn’t understand, though, that no earthly platform grants real promotion.
God opens the door or closes it. He advances a person or removes them. Nations, leaders, and individuals all sit under His authority. Attempts to control the future without Him will collapse.
The Psalmist painted a graphic picture describing God’s righteous judgment. The wicked can’t run, they can’t hide, and they cannot escape accountability to God, the ultimate judge.
For the Lord holds a cup in his hand that is full of foaming wine mixed with spices. He pours out the wine in judgment, and all the wicked must drink it, draining it to the dregs. Psalm 75:8
The wicked may hide their actions from humans, but they can’t hide them from God. He evaluates every motive. He knows their every decision, and they can keep no secrets from Him.
When God pours out the wine in judgment, the wicked drink the consequences of their rebellion. Not because God finds pleasure in it, but because justice demands it.
Sin destroys lives and poisons communities. It insults God’s holiness. Therefore, God, the ultimate judge, applies the necessary judgment in response to wickedness.

God Responds to Praise
This Psalm doesn’t dwell solely on judgment. The Psalmist responded to God with confidence and praise because he had nothing to fear from the ultimate judge.
But as for me, I will always proclaim what God has done; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob. Psalm 75:9
We, too, must do as the Psalmist did; we must also choose to praise the Lord. He declared God’s works, not because his life felt perfect, but because God always remains perfect.
Praise rises from faith, not circumstances. When believers worship the Lord, they declare that evil holds no final victory. They know that ungodly power can’t overturn God’s decrees.
God never overlooks those who walk faithfully with Him. He strengthens those who trust Him, seek Him, obey Him, and honor Him. This Psalm closes with a beautiful promise.
For God says, “I will break the strength of the wicked, but I will increase the power of the godly.” Psalm 75:10
The power He spoke about may not appear immediately, but it will grow steadily. God lifts the humble and sustains the weary. He protects the faithful and vindicates His people.

Living Under the Judgment of God, The Ultimate Judge
His truth frees us from fear, so we don’t need to panic when evil appears strong. We do not need to despair when injustice surfaces. So, how do we apply Psalm 75 to our daily walk with Christ?
- Practice daily gratitude. Start the day by thanking God for His presence. A grateful heart sees more clearly and trusts more deeply.
- Let go of the need to control outcomes. Our opportunities and success come from the Lord. Instead of striving anxiously, trust His timing and His wisdom.
- Reject pride the moment it surfaces. Ask God to expose any self-dependence or desire for recognition. Choose humility. God lifts humble people at the perfect moment.
- Rest in God’s justice. When you witness injustice, pray instead of panicking. God sees everything. He handles the situations we can’t influence ourselves.
- Keep your heart aligned with praise. Let worship shape your perspective. Praise strengthens your faith and reminds you of God’s authority.
- Walk with integrity. Live as someone who knows God watches their every step. Honor Him privately and publicly. God, our ultimate Judge, will reward your faithfulness.

Closing Comments
The writer of this Psalm calls us to anchor our lives in God’s character. Christians will never walk alone, never live outside His care, or face injustice unnoticed.
God judges with truth, humbles the proud, and strengthens the righteous. The Lord sees every tear, He records every act of faithfulness, and holds every moment in His hands.
Thank you, God, for being the ultimate judge who judges with perfect justice, endless wisdom, and unfailing love. Help me to walk with you every moment of my life.
