God Still Moves Mountains - Enjoying the Journey

A few week’s ago I asked friends who follow us on social media if they would help me pray for a mountain that needed to be moved. Since that time I have had numbers of kind, praying people ask me if the Lord has moved our mountain yet. It has been humbling to hear many of them say they have been praying with me every day for God to move the mountain.

Before I answer that question, allow me to share with you where the expression comes from. In Mark 11:22-24 we read:

And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

We all have our mountains – the unavoidable and insurmountable obstacles of life. Mountains of doubt, fear, sin, and trouble. What are we to do? Our Lord invites us to pray; and, not just to pray, but to pray in faith.

L.G. LeTourneau was a Christian businessman who invented amazing earth-moving equipment. He was often referred to as a “mover of men and mountains.” Bob Childress was a drunken mountain man who was gloriously saved. He then went back into the Blue Ridge Mountains and began to preach Christ, turning many others to Him. I have a book in my library on his life that is called “The Man Who Moved a Mountain.”

While these stories are powerful, it is important to remember that men do not move mountains – only God can do that! Only the Creator is bigger than the mountains. Faith is not the source of the power; it is simply the channel by which God’s power flows.

When Jesus spoke those powerful words He was standing on the Mt. of Olives. Zechariah 14:14 tells us that someday He is coming back to that very mountain, and when He does, even that mountain will move! There is nothing too hard and nothing too big for our God.

Now, back to my mountain…Yes, praise God, the Lord is moving the mountain! In fact, God is doing more than we asked or imagined. Isn’t that just like Him? (Ephesians 3:20)

For all of you who are praying for us, thank you. For many who are praying and believing God for the mountain that is staring you in the face, keep praying and keep believing. I can testify that our Father still moves mountains.
