God's Diverse Orchard - A Nighttime Prayer

”And God said, “I have given you every plant yielding seed which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit; you shall have them for food.”

– Genesis 1:29 (RSV)

Please Pray:

God, you give us good fruit to feed us in all seasons. Give me diligence to continue sowing the many, varied seeds that will bring a good spiritual harvest. Give me the wisdom I need to tend the diverse kinds of trees that grow Your orchard while they have yet to bear spiritual fruit. Give me patience to wait for the right moment to pick the spiritual fruit that I can already see hanging unripe from the branches. Help me trust that the spiritual fruit that is ripe now will provide enough good food for my needs–and the needs of those around me–-today. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Her award-winning marketing communications describe traffic signal systems, roads, bridges, and water treatment plants. She’s written about Australian opals, Indian wedding wear, North American hockey memorabilia, and how to repair antique steam-powered farm equipment. She’s curious enough to explore almost anything, and grateful that wherever she goes, God is already there. She looks across woods and a marsh from her writing desk in small town Maine, just a few miles from her family’s third-generation wild blueberry farm.
