How to be a channel of blessings

Have you ever thought of how God has been so good to you throughout your life?

God’s faithfulness and abundant love for us have been so overwhelming that we should feel like sharing them with others, especially those who do not know Him.

Also, when Jesus Christ redeemed us from our sins and gave us a new life, we no longer live for ourselves but for Him and for serving others.

However, some of us who are just starting our journey with God might not know how to become a blessing to other people.

In this blog, we will look into ways of becoming a path of God’s goodness and extraordinary love.

How to be a channel of blessings

Once we mature in our spiritual lives, we will understand that we have a particular purpose for why God separated and chose us to be His children

We are blessed to be a blessing. It is more than giving monetary or material things. Most of the time, it is our effort and character that makes us a gift.

Here are some ways on how we could become a channel of blessings.

Listening before speaking

Most of the time, when people are experiencing rough patches, they only need someone who can lend an ear to listen to their pain and struggles.

James 1:19 says, “Be quick to listen and slow to speak.”

By listening, we are letting other people know that you are there for them, validating what they feel. Also,  it shows that you are not there to condemn but to understand them, which God wants His people to know.

More so, people in pain do not need much advice. Our silence could help them more than our words.

Sharing what you have

For Christians who know that God is the source of everything, we should not have an excuse for not sharing what we have with others. Not because you only have some means, you cannot be a pathway of blessings.

Those who live with what they have will be given more so they can provide more. God’s principle of blessings is about sharing them with others. When God sees your heart and effort to share what you have, He will make you like an overflowing river that flows toward the ocean.

Additionally, some may think they can only give once they become rich without realizing that the secret of prosperity is sharing what you have.

So, do not wait until you have plenty. Share whatever you can and wait for God to multiply them; that is more than your storeroom could keep.

Luke 6:38 says, “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

Helping others

Those who desire to help will find their way to help others no matter what their circumstance is. God never hesitated to give us a hand in times of trouble, and as His ambassadors, we should also be willing to serve others.

Our simple actions everywhere we go could mean so much to others, like simply opening the door for older people.

More so, helping one another is what God designed us to be and desired for us. When God made Adam, He knew he needed a helper, so He created Eve and called her woman.

We become a blessing to others when we make an effort to help them lighten up their loads or tasks, whether at home, school, workplace, or in the church.

Encouraging others

Sometimes, our words of appreciation and motivation to others matter more than anything. Nowadays, people long for someone who can lift them, especially when things fall apart.

Our words of encouragement could save someone's day and prevent them from contemplating self-harm because of their pain and adversities. God will use you to reach out to people who are lost, lonely, and longing so they can feel His presence.

Some people are not aware of God’s promises because they do not hear about them or read them in the Bible. But as for you, who listens to your pastor’s preaching and meditates on God’s words daily, you can share those promises to uplift others.

Thus, it is one way of evangelizing and leading them to God.

Praying for them

It is not enough to be there listening and encouraging others. The power of prayer is still our most extraordinary foundation for blessing others. Some things are out of our control, and only God can make a way.

By spending time praying for others' needs and desires, we are becoming a channel of blessing even though they are far from us or they do not even know.

Remember that we are warriors, not worriers. We win our battles by praying and asking our Almighty Father to move mountains for us. God is good and faithful, and His love endures forever.

As we pray, we are allowing God to take control and make other people know what He can do for them.

Being the source of positivity and peace

Jesus Christ always ensures He shares His peace with others wherever He goes. As His followers, we should be the same no matter how complex and painful our situations are.

No one wants to be with someone with negative thoughts and complaints. Also, no one would like to spend time with people constantly stirring up trouble. You become a burden instead of becoming a blessing.

But, when you choose to see the bright side of everything, people will love to be with you. The world has so much trouble, but when you carry peace, you become a channel of blessings to others.

Continuous learning

An empty pail would never overflow. The same is true with knowledge; we cannot give what we do not have. We cannot become a blessing if we do not allow ourselves to keep on learning.

We need to try to learn God’s words by attending church and reading the Bible. The more we strengthen our faith, the more we can be cheerful in becoming a channel of blessings to others.

Additionally, we sometimes get tired of doing things for others, but the more we educate ourselves, the more we can give and do more good to them.

More so, a blind person could not or may have difficulties leading another blind man. The more we learn about God and how to bless others, the more we can help them and show them closer to God.

Called to be a blessing

God chose you and blessed you with so many things and more than what you can bear. But He is never selfish and wants you to be the same—our cups overflow because God wants us to use them to bless others.

As we bless others, we also bless God’s Holy Name and allow Him to use us to reach out to His children who are lost, lonely, and broken. As we live for Christ, we are now called to be His hands and feet to those in need and weary.

As we do these ways of being a channel of blessings to others, we also store our treasures in Heaven. So do not be afraid to give or share what you have, for God sees all our labor, and it is never in vain.
