How to make God happy?
Everyone desires and prays for things that satisfy them, but have you ever thought of how we can make God happy?
Have you ever asked God, “How can I make you happy?”
Like in any other relationship, our connection with God should be two-way. We should also know and understand how to satisfy God rather than just focusing on what we could get from Him. It is how a successful relationship works.
In this blog, we will delve into ways to make God happy so we can have a more robust and healthier relationship with Him.
How to make God happy?
One of the misconceptions about God is that it is hard to please Him. But, the more you read His words, the more you will understand that although He is sovereign and the Highest of all, He only asks for simple things, and once we have done it, we can put a smile on His face.
Here are some ways to make God smile.
Have Faith
Hebrews 11:6 says, “And without faith, it is impossible to please God because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
No one will ever be happy if no one believes in you. The same is true with God; we can never please Him without believing He exists and is God.
More importantly, it is not just about believing in His existence but also entrusting your entire life to His nature, promises, and character. Besides, it is more our unwavering trust that profoundly impacts our actions, thoughts, and way of life.
Thus, the heart of our relationship with God depends on our faith, no matter what we are going through. It pleases the Lord when we do not doubt His love and power, especially when our faith is shaken.
Be humble
James 4:6 says, “But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”
Humility is never a sign of weakness but strength. It means you are strong enough to admit your flaws and imperfections. More so, humility is about acknowledging that we are nothing without God.
Moreover, God is pleased with those who acknowledge His reverence, and He is willing to lift those who are meek.
Pay attention to God’s commands
When we carefully obey God’s commands, we make Him happy, just like a father to his children. We show that we love God when we do everything to follow Him no matter how difficult it is, especially when living in a fallen world.
Whenever we obey God, it results in blessings, and whenever we choose to follow ourselves, it brings us a curse.
Deuteronomy 11:26-27 says, “See, I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse — the blessing if you obey the commands of the Lord your God that I am giving you today.”
Our Heavenly Father is so generous to reward us when we obey His will and laws. More so, God’s commands are set for us to avoid danger. It is beneficial when we observe because God does not want us to get hurt.
We make God happy when He knows we are safe from harm because we follow Him.
Faithful to our Tithes
Giving ten percent of our income is a command from God and an act of faith. God is not concerned about our money since He owns everything, but we can make Him happy when we are faithful in giving our tithes and offerings to Him.
God considers our tithes sacred. Leviticus 27:30 says, “A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the Lord; it is holy to the Lord.”
In addition, we show our reverence when we give what He asks for His house. Also, giving our tithes faithfully shows our complete surrender that God will sustain our needs with the 90% that we have.
When we do not worry
Worrying hinders us from enjoying life because we are anxious about our future. God is never happy when He sees us worried because He wants us to be satisfied and at peace, knowing He is there to help us in our troubles.
Matthew 6:27 says, “Can any of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”
There are a lot of negative things that could happen when we worry. It could affect our mindset, relationship with our loved ones, and, most of all, our connection with God.
Instead of trying to figure it all out alone, surrender it all to God, and He will surely give you peace and confidence that He listens and sees our needs.
When we love others as ourselves
Jesus Christ never chooses whom to love. He died for all who are willing to accept and believe in Him. God is happy when we imitate Jesus in terms of loving everyone regardless of their bank account and status in life.
Furthermore, loving others means serving and encouraging them. God wants us to learn how to love unselfishly. It also includes loving people we do not like or our enemies. He wants us to love them as we love ourselves, which sets us apart from others.
Thus, loving our neighbors is the second greatest commandment that Jesus Christ mentioned in Matthew 6:39.
When we love God with all our heart
Above all, God is a jealous God. He wants no other gods before Him. By "gods" means the things we prioritize more than Him. There is nothing more important than our Heavenly Father. He is the author, beginning and end of life.
Matthew 6:36-38 says, “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
Jesus replied: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment.”
Loving God is the first and greatest commandment of God, and when we do this, we not only bring a smile to God's face but genuinely make Him happy.
More importantly, just like in marriage, we hate third parties. That is the same with having an intimate relationship with God.
Furthermore, when we love the Lord completely, we are joyful in doing everything for Him, not just for the sake of obeying rules. We will be intentional in walking in righteousness and seeking Him first because we know that it makes Him happy.
God is not asking for perfection
Although God is perfect in every way, the good news is His grace is great enough to understand our flaws. Maybe some people think it is difficult to make God happy because we are not perfect.
Yet, God is not asking for perfection from us; what He wants is a genuine heart that is willing to obey and love Him sincerely regardless of our imperfections. Since the beginning, the purpose of our existence is to have a closer relationship with God. He is pleased with His love for us., and there is nothing, not even our flaws, that could separate us from His love.
Thus, when God sees our desire to make Him happy, He will give us favors and rewards that could never be compared with what the world could offer.
