How to tame the fear of achieving your dreams?
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
Joshua 1:9
Joshua 1:9 gets to the point, doesn't it? It is comparable to having a close friend who always knows how to cheer us up. It is not about never feeling afraid but saying, "Hey, it is completely okay to feel scared. But do not let that fear be the boss of you." It is about acknowledging that fear and letting it go with a "Thanks for your advice, but I have dreams to pursue!"
Having muscles or never crying is not what makes someone strong and brave. It is about accepting a challenge head-on rather than backing down. Do you recall a time when, despite your fear of the dark, you would get up at night to grab a drink of water as a child? That takes bravery. It is acknowledging your fear and still taking action.
And it goes beyond that. This verse also reminds us that we are never traveling alone. Someone or something always has your back, whether it is your faith, family, friends, or even your furry pet. Consider this: Does not your support improve your favorite sports team's performance when you cheer them on? That is the function of support. It helps us get back up when we are about to fall.
Thus, keep Joshua 1:9 in mind the next time you stand on the brink of a big dream, your heart racing and your palms sweating. You can write it on a sticky note, yell it aloud, or whisper it to yourself. Tell yourself again, "I am powerful." I have courage. My whole team is supporting me.
Remember that everyone who has accomplished anything noteworthy has, at some point, had to face their fears. It was the same dizzying feeling they experienced. The distinction is that they persevered. Why, then, are you unable to? Waiting for you on the other side of that fear are your dreams.
Keep pushing forward, my friends. One courageous step at a time, conquer that fear. Recall that the journey, not the destination, is what causes anxiety. You possess the fortitude to confront it. You underestimate your courage and are not alone in this world.
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10
This verse serves as a potent reminder rather than just a line. It reassures us that feeling afraid is acceptable. When you are going for something significant, fear is a part of the experience. The good news is that you do not have to let that fear hold you back. You possess a strength you can draw upon, be it your faith, the encouragement of friends and family, or simply your unwavering resolve.
Consider an instance when you were terrified to act. It might have been taking up a new hobby, starting a new job, or relocating to a new city. Do you recall your feelings after completing it? That feeling of exhilaration, pride, and "I cannot believe I just did that"? That is what occurs when you overcome your fear.
As it happens, we all possess far more courage than we realize. And occasionally, we only need a gentle prod to bring it out. That is what Isaiah 41:10 is about—a gentle reminder that your fears cannot overcome you.
It may cause you to pause momentarily the next time you experience that all-too-familiar fear while pursuing your dreams. Tell yourself again that feeling afraid is acceptable. It is normal. Additionally, keep in mind that you possess extraordinary strength. You have this incredible capacity to persevere and emerge stronger on the other side.
Dream chasing is always complex, but it is always worthwhile. Nothing is impossible for you to accomplish if you have a lot of heart, courage, and faith.
"I can do all things through him who strengthens me."
Philippians 4:13
Philippians 4:13 addresses more than just religious belief. It all comes down to having faith in something greater than your worries, be it your faith, your family's love, your friends' support, or even your own inner strength. It functions similarly to a hidden superpower that appears when you least expect it.
Consider a moment when you wanted to give up. It took a lot of work to attempt something new that you were trying. Then again, something changed. Perhaps you had a pep talk from a friend, or you recalled why you had initially started. This verse is all about that very moment. It is about mustering the will to press on when all your inner critics tell you the going gets too hard.
How can you use this to subdue your anxieties about realizing your dreams? First of all, always keep in mind that fear is normal. Fear is a normal emotion when undertaking a significant task. It conveys your deep concern for it. Rather than allowing your fear to deter you, it will enable it to be the driving force behind your quest for strength.
You may be surprised at the power of those four little words when fear tries to stop you. Take a deep breath and tell yourself, "I can do this." When you genuinely believe in yourself, you view obstacles as opportunities rather than barriers.
Remember that all great dreams begin with a tiny, occasionally frightening step. However, everything is within your reach if you have a little faith in your inner strength and self-belief. So feel free to pursue your dreams. You can succeed in this!
