Do you want to be rich?

Live your Ikigai.

Ikigai is a Japanese concept that means your “Why”, your reason for living.

It’s your reason for being.

It’s the reason you get up in the morning.

Ikigai and Flow

My Ikigai is living in and for Christ.

I live It, I write about it.

I wake up in the morning excited about it.

I go about my day listening to teachings about it.

I sleep at night thinking about it.

When you’re pursuing your Ikigai, you almost always enter into Flow.

Flow is a state of mind in which a person becomes fully immersed in an activity.

You get consumed with what you’re doing, you don’t notice anything else.

You forget to eat,

you work for hours and hours,

Yet you’re never hungry, never tired.

That’s the Flow. Others called it being in the zone.

When you’re in the flow,

You get immense pleasure in what you’re doing.

You forget the stress of life.

You get energized, renewed, refreshed.

When you’re in the flow,

Your work becomes play.

Then you’ll never have to work again.

Living daily in the flow will help you live a rich life. And a long life too.

How to get into Flow

So do you want to be always in the flow? Here are my suggestions:

Find your Ikigai.

First off, begin with your Why.

What gets you up in the morning?

What makes you cry?

What spurs your passion?

What’s something you’re willing to do, even without being paid for it?

Pursue your Ikigai

When you know your Ikigai, pursue it.

Always do things with your Ikigai in mind.

Will watching TV bring me closer to my Ikigai?

Yes, if it will refresh and inspire me. No, if it will enslave me.

Every moment, choose to do what is in alignment with your Ikigai.

Live your Ikigai.

When you’re pursuing your Ikigai every moment of your life,

It becomes your lifestyle.

You never have to think about it.

It becomes who you are.

So, how do you find your purpose in life, your Ikigai?

Know this: You can never find your true purpose apart from the Lord.

He created you, He knows you inside out.

Lord, you know everything there is to know about me. Psalm 139:1 TPT

Psalm 139 is my favorite Psalm when I first got to know Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior.

Read the whole Psalm 139 from The Passion Transalation (TPT). You will be amazed at how intimately God knows you.

Pray about it. Ask the Lord what He wants for you to do.

He knows the plans He has in mind for you. Plans to give you a future full of hope.

I say this because I know what I am planning for you,” says the LORD. “I have good plans for you, not plans to hurt you. I will give you hope and a good future. Jer 29:11 NCV

How I found my Ikigai

My greatest fear is to die without living my purpose in life.

I used to dread sleeping at night.

Cause when I close my eyes to sleep, I see the darkness, the nothingness.

Will it be like this when I die?

Will I turn into nothing?

I was so scared to die.

It all changed when I came to know Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior.

I was in college then.

He gave me meaning, a real purpose for why I’m here on earth.

My real purpose is to know God,

to love God,

to obey God,

and to live my life

so I could be happy with Him

forever in heaven.

Everything changed then.

Everything I do had a purpose.

Everything became a pursuit of living in Christ.

Whatever I do, I do for God.

As a Student

I studied to please and honor God. I graduated Cum Laude.

As an Employee

I served for 20 years as a nurse in a hospital even though I’m just earning Php15k or $200 a month.

Simply because the Lord led me to work there. I worked my 9-5 to serve God, not only my employers.

As a Self-Employed

Then He led me to work online, become a virtual assistant. My income increased 5x.

My Ikigai remained the same.

I live for Him and serve Him through my work.

As an Online Entrepreneur

Now He’s leading me to build a business. A business that blesses others.

To write to inspire others to know Him, love Him, live in Him too.

I earn $0 in this venture. Not yet anyway.

But I do it. Everyday.

Why?

My Ikigai remained the same.

I live for Him and serve Him through my work.

My Ikigai: My Secret to a Rich Life

Now I’m richer. Even though I don’t have a lot of money. Yet. 😀

Now I’m happier.

Now I’m at peace.

Something money cannot buy.

Whether I earn a lot of money or not, it doesn’t matter.

I pursue what He has called me to do.

He provides for all my needs in the process.

I’m always amazed at how He provides for me.

I’m living rich.

We have this treasure from God, but we are like clay jars that hold the treasure. This shows that the great power is from God, not from us. 2 Corinthians 4:7 NCV

But most of all, I’m no longer afraid to die.

Because I know when that happens, I will meet Jesus, my Ikigai, the One I’m living for, face to face.

And I will be with Him forever.

Then we who are alive and remain [on the earth] will simultaneously be caught up (raptured) together with them [the resurrected ones] in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord! 1 Thessalonians 4:17 Amplified Bible (AMP)

Now Your Turn

So, do you want to be rich?

Live you Ikigai.

If you already know your Ikigai: Pursue it, live it.

Live it, above all, in Christ.

Then your Ikigai will have more power to it.

More power to drive you. Make you happy. Fill you with peace.

If you don’t know your Ikigai yet:

Turn to Jesus. He knows you inside and out. Let Him reveal your Ikigai to you. Make Him your Ikigai.

Pray with Me

praying hands of a child

Dear Lord,

I’m sorry for my sins. For wasting my life, living without a purpose. Living my life without You. Be my Lord and Savior. Be my Ikigai. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit so I could live my purpose in you. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
