“I’ll Be Back”

“I’ll be back.”

These were the famous words spoken by the Terminator, played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, when the officer at the police station refused to allow the Terminator to see Sarah Connor. The Terminator returned to the police station, killed most of the officers there as he searched for Sarah Connor.

I have been away from my blog since the end of 2023, but I’ll be back on Monday, June 3. I will be back, not to destroy, as the Terminator did, but to help you gain a better understanding and appreciation for the Old Testament.

The reasons for my absence from blogging are many, but primarily has to do with my research for two books. I just sent my manuscript to Kregel Academic for my book Those Amazing Women of Ancient Israel. The book will be published by the end of 2024 or early in 2025.

I have been also working on a book on Lamentations. The tentative title for the book is From Despair to Hope: Studies on the Book of Lamentations. The book is based on a series of studies on Lamentations that I presented to Growing in Grace, the senior Bible study group at The Compass Church in Naperville, Illinois. I hope to have the complete manuscript by December.

God has been good to me. He has allowed me to enjoy good health in my retirement years and I have used this blessing to read, to do research, and to write. If God allows me to keep enjoying good health in 2025, I will dedicate the entire year to finish a project that I began many years ago.

It has been my desire to write a book on Slavery in the Old Testament. Over the years I have read widely on this issue and began to write some sections of the book. On January 2, 2025, it is my desire to go back to the topic, to revisit my notes and the research I have done and complete the manuscript by December 2025.

I have other projects in mind, but their completion will depend on God’s time. There are two other writing projects I would like to finish before I go and meet Mose and Jeremiah on the other side of this life. Until then, I hope to continue blogging, reading, and writing as much as possible.

Another thing I have not done is to answer the many comments readers have left on previous posts. It will take me some time to answer them, but I will.

Thank you for your support as readers, for visiting by blog, for reading to my posts, and for reacting to what I write.

I will see you soon.
