Is God for You? WordofGodspeakLinkup - Growing Through God's Word

I read a short devotional from UCB devotional the other day. The author was able to unpack Romans 8:31 to make sense for me. Is God for you? I love the way that the author took each word from Scripture and looked at it. In order to make it clearer in my mind, I have taken that idea and put it below.

God for you

First of all look at this passage:

If God is for us, who can be against us (Romans 8:31, NIV)? (click to tweet)

Now let’s look at each word.

God –

The Creator of the Heavens and the earth (Ps 146:6), the One who formed me in my mother’s womb (Ps 139:13, the One who is Eternal (Ps 102:12).

Is –

At the present time, now; no matter what is happening to me on earth, God “is” in it. God said: “I am (Exodus 3:14).” We know that right now He knows what is happening and is involved in it.

For –

God works when we allow Him to. Stop struggling. Let God be for you. In our weakness He is strong (2 Corinthians 12:10).

You –

That means me and God is for me. He is working in my life. He listens to my prayers. He is interested in my trials, my struggles and my accomplishments. God want a relationship with me – little ‘ole me.

Therefore, we believe God is for you.

As a result, we can thank Him and prepare to represent Him for today.

A quote to remember:

It is not so true that “prayer changes things” as that prayer changes me and I change things (Oswald Chambers). (click to tweet)
